I see today that Ike Turner has "left the building".
A personal sadness as, tho I haven't seen him in many, many years, my brother and I used to hang with him in the late 70's.
This was not long after his infamous split with Tina and tho there have been many stories of his cruelties to her, I personally never saw that side of him. In fact, I remember when he flew a bunch of us in his personal plane to Las Vegas to see one of her debut solo shows.
I am not saying I think those stories are untrue (those were crazy, intense, drug hazed days in the nightclubs I managed in L.A., the scene at his Baltic Studios on La Brea, & the music business in general), but they were not a part of my relationship with Ike.
I have some pretty incredible personal stories of Ike and that period of my life which may someday see the light of day, if I ever get the book I am writing finished and published. (Robben has heard bits of my story and very avidly encourages me to finish the novel so he can read the entire tale).
As I said, I haven't seen Ike in nearly 30 years, but he was an important player in a very memorable part of my past and I will always remember him for the role he played in my life.
RIP, Ike Turner... may your soul and personal demons be finally laid to rest _________________ B C-ing U!

Amen, Daved.
In the many write-ups I've read today, all say he was a great guitarist. I'd like to hear some clips, and I'll seek them out if I can...
Re: Daved's book
Daved! I'm so happy to hear it! It's been often suggested in here that your experiences warrant a good read. I, for one, want at least one copy, autographed of course!

Robben and I spoke of Ike while in London and Robben told me when he heard the news he immediately thought of me and again encouraged me to work on my book.
He told me he has a publisher/editor friend in Boston who he says he will gladly introduce me to... if I would just get the book done and published so he can read it himself.
Hard to argue with an offer like that, right? _________________ B C-ing U!
