It's on my list of places to see when I finally tour the states... Same goes for Austin, Bakersfield, Noo Orleens, Boulder and a bunch of others...

Well, Millibobs ( BTW... does that translate to "thousands of Bobs" Laughing ?),

I guess I could almost be your own personal tour guide then as, besides having been to most of those places numerous times over the years, I actually live in Bakersfield and once lived in an Iowa tri-cities area (Waterloo/Hudson/Cedar Falls) for a couple of years (just down the road a healthy piece from Des Moines) when I was an electrician working at the John Deere tractor factory in the mid 70's.

Some pretty spectacular living going on there (and here) I must say... yawn! LOL! Wink

What a great thread! Daved, sounds like a chapter albeit not a very long and detailed one. Although, I'm guessing there's a good John Deere story or two... Very Happy

Millibobs, when you get over here, I wanna party with you!

Dave D-J, glad to see you in here still. How are the Rainravens?

Daved

It is Latin for 'millions of bobs', dating back to when the Uk was almost entirely occupied by people named 'Bob'. Most of these people have now emigrated to Australia Or New Zealand where, if you check the electoral rolls, you will find most people (and their wives) are called 'Bob'. This should encourage our Antipodean members to wake up and hurl some abuse..........

The epitome of 'spectacular living' in our village is when the vicar's car backfires, triggering a wave of heart seizures at the old folks home nearby.

The idea of having you as a personal tour guide is more than I can resist - when my wife Bob wakes up tomorrow, she may find a note on the dresser saying, 'dear Bob, have fled to Bakersfield to visit the remains of the John Deere plant and check out Daved's CD collection - please walk the amps and feed my guitars.....'.

Aw, Milli, so now it's...

"Hello, Bob.
You are my wife now, Bob!"

Hey..Easy on the Des Moines jokes. That's my home town. Frank Zappa said "everyone needs to go to Des Moines once, just to see that it really exists". Happy New Year all you sycophants... Very Happy

It's my hometown too. Let's just say, Des Moines is a good place to be from. 'From', of course, being the key word.

An english tourbus driver had a couple of the DVD's on his bus and turned me onto them during a Robben eurotour a few years back. I now have the entire "Welcome To Royston Vasey" series in my disc collection tho I still have yet to see the movie ("Apocolypse")... patiently waiting for the U.S. 'region 1' DVD release.

LOL... B'Field is far too redneck to have any Babs in its taxi fleets, but it IS beginning to look like I "will ever never leave".

I had the memorable pleasure of visiting the real "Royston Vasey" a couple of years ago on the last RF UK tour when he played about a half hour away from Hadfield. The day was appropriately dreary and I got wonderful pictures of me standing near such landmarks as the the butcher's shop and the statue in the center of town.

P.S. I'm hoping that "Creme Brulee" gets back together and asks me to tech for them on their next comeback tour. Holding onto my platform shoes and sparkle jumpsuit just in case.
Of course, if that doesn't work out I'm sure Pauline would be more than happy to enter me in her Restart class and lend me one of her pens.
