Years back I bought a GuitarPort from Line6 ... if I recall ... less than $100. They have a service called GuitarPort Online which costs approx. $80 per year. Robben Ford has several songs and tracks with or without guitar. The track sheet has all the chords and three scale options for each. You can slow it down, loop it, or whatever.

The other part that's cool is you can download the guitar tones that goe with the tracks ... set your pickup type and location ... and play away. Of course, there's an unlimited number of artists contribution in the same way, but I thought it was cool to find recordings of Robben's.

Fun stuff!

Michael,

This sounds really cool. Thanks for posting the info

Do you know if the downloads are in a proprietary format? I just got a Tascam MP-GT1 which is like a GuitarPort and uses MP3 files.

Would the tracks proviede be compatible?

Michael (no kidding - same name Very Happy )

Yeah I think it's proprietary unfortunately.

The tracks are actually Robben's band ... sounds like some of the Blue Line. Some tracks sound as if they were laid down just for the online program. In any event, Robben's very cool for participating. The small guiatport fits in the case with the notebook for headphone practice anywhere. The audio is fantastic. At home, I have the guitarport connected to some powered reference monitor speakers - great sound.

You get track sheets, in some cases written scores, scales and alternate scales that match the chords, the downloaded tones are pretty close to actual, some are done with or without guitar so you can play along with Robben, if you like. You can even slow down the songs. Robben always says to the young ... get in a band. Fun stuff!
