I'm jumping the gun here cause I just got these last night and only heard bits and pieces of each cd just jumping around...

Raising Sand, Robert Plant / Alison Krauss - Sounds interesting with their vocal interplay. Can't wait to hear it all...

Spontaneous Combustion, Liquid Trio Experiment - this is the long lost tape from the Liquid Tension Experiment's late 90's studio session minus John Petrucci (hence the "Trio") who had to suddenly split for the birth of his kid. It's 100% improvised, and from what little I've heard, it's strangely interesting. What else can you expect from Portnoy, Jordan Rudess, and Tony Levin. I'll be sure to listen to it all today in my double-secret work lab...

Revival, John Fogerty - bought this strictly on the positive reviews and because I've always like CCR and JF. However, I'm not feeling too positive after listening to the first 20 seconds of the 1st track. It seemed a bit too country-ish for my tastes. But, I'll hold on to hope that it quickly steers to some good ol' rock n roll...

Issa Bagayoyo's latest. Wow. Wish I could sing like he does. Wish I could so wonderfully mix so many traditional and pop West African styles. Wish I had a name that was half as cool.

I love that CD, Daved, and everyone I've played it for loves it. It is a great idea. Did you know that the man that did several of the arrangements is the same guy that wrote the "Rocky and Bullwinkle Show " theme?

Shinin' On - Grand Funk Railroad

The only GFR album I have loaded in it's entirety into my i-pod ( ...1 song, possibly 2 from each of the other albums).

An excellent blues funk power rock CD., Grand Funk at their pinacle for me.
It's amazing how the addition of Craig Frost and his monster B3 organ sound smoothes the band's rough areas while coloring and highlighting the bands good points.

Grand Funk finally funked and, with this album, funked their blues hard! LOL

And Mark Farner's name really should be over on the thread list of greatest blues/rock voices.

I just got Ronnie Earl's new CD, "Help Radio" this weekend and it's been in the player ever since. It's a great CD.

I have Ronnie Earl's CD as well and I think it's great (especially the acoustic songs).

In my car (for three weeks straight Shocked

) has been Piers Faccini "Tearing Sky". I love this CD Exclamation

Rosenberg Trio - Roots.

I have never been a big fan of gypsy jazz but I picked this up recently for my daughter (she likes all things French and jazz, and she plays the clarinet, so what the hell). Two guitars and a bass, plus a guest clarinetist. I gave it to her and after a listen she brought it back and said, Dad you need to listen to these guys.

There are very few CDs or records that I have experienced that truly made me question why I try to play the guitar. This is one of them. These guys are just drop dead amazing. After the first few cuts I was ready to start a telecaster fire in the front yard. Speed with grace, emotion and soul is difficult to pull off but for chorus after chorus these guys do just that. I would love to witness this live. Great stuff.
