That Goldtop sounds cool, but I was under the impression that his Murphy R9 was his main squeeze. Oh well.

I wish I had something meaningful for him to sign, not just an old pickguard, you know? The only reason that pickguard is laying around is because I replaced it with an R6 pickguard that I cut to fit humbuckers.

He evidently owns more than one Murphy. His main one was purchased to replace this Paul. Notice the missing pick guard.

He replaced the front PU on this guitar with a PAF and toured with it as his only Gibson for three years. He now has nothing but Gibsons and a Custom Gigliotti Tele or two in his road case.

He really does like to talk guitars. Ask him about his Murphys.

That's the one on the New Day Yesterday Live DVD, no? What happened to it that he needed to replace it?

I think he says in a guitar mag (Guitar Player or Guitarist UK ?) that he has several R9, at least 4, with one that he uses more frequently.

That one I'm going to assume to be the burst with the wide flame on the treble side of the guitar, man that guitar just sings.

Wrong line-up. Large crowd there for Joe Bonamassa that were unaware of RF. He really hammed it up, played way too loud, took too many encores and playing time, and shouted(not sang)his entire set. I try not to slam any musician but this was a wrong pairing.

Robben's tech said afterwards they had to begin way too loud because the opening band was so damn loud they couldn't come out way underneath.

Abreviated set (one encore Supernatural that nomally would have been the last song of the set) No Meet and greet.

Robben played some great stuff, well because he is Robben. The softer tune Peace On My Mind did get another great reception again which is wonderful. This song is going over well at each of the 3 shows I've attended so far.

Fantastic suit though, cream-colored pants and jacket over black silk shirt(un-buttoned of course) reddish-brown boots. Are you around Elizabeth?

Unfortunately I spent all of my energy on Joe, I was so hoarse and tired by the time Robben came up...

Frankly I really dug Joe's set, he was having a great time. But yeah you're right, it was bad pairing.

Robben was looking sharp, that suit was awesome Razz The 335 he played throughout the set sounded great. Overall I think Robben could have rolled back on the treble a bit. I wasn't expecting to hear Mystic Mile-like tones but that was just a little too harsh for my ears.

But yeah, Peace on My Mind was great, very powerful song.

I was the tall kid center stage a few feet back with a beanie Smile

Well thanks Momo for playing that game , it seems we have the same taste, i've never dug opening acts especially when they act like you said.
In fact this summer i had to endure the over cruel Eric Sardinas opening for Jeff BECK , ohhhhhhhhhh don't get me wrong i love Slide playing and i liked hishch infatuation of Roy Rogers meets voodoo chile whom cousin is the taylor of S.R.V, but it was totally a perfect mismatch to make the story short. Just like you said , i say , overplaying, shouting, overloud, & WAY TOO LONG SET .
Then Musicinmysoul i wouldn't you think about me as a schmuck but obviously you've reached the wrong board . You're more bonamasich than robeenish. Personally i would have spent the first act drinking cocktails just to keep my ears fresh & clean for the FORD experience
.i know i am an ego trip just by myself.
Then Momo Lord praises U . Whatever happened to you , you know who is the igniter of the fashion thread. AH italian boots , pfffffffffffffffffffff

I'm a big fan of both, I'm trying to cover my bases. I just prefer the Born Under A Bad Sign tone to the Keep On Running tone. While Keep on Running is a great tune and album, I'm a bigger fan of the 88-95 era albums/tone. I'm sure had I been able hoot and holler (instead of the dog-without-vocal-chords sound I was making after Joe) and had I not been standing for 4 1/2 hours I would have been a little more excitable for Robben.

Joe B. tonight and I think he will be the only act, $10 at the same place I saw Robin Trower last night. I have told a bunch of work friends about it so I hope he puts on a good show.

'rant alert':

I buy my Trower tickets 10 min. after they go on sale so I'm looking forward to this show for 2 months. So were sitting in the best seats in the house first row on a ledge. Out of 600 people there is one dancing lady standing, everyone (no exaggeration) is sitting, so where do you think she was? In front of me of course!

I could see around her but if your the only one standing out of 600 people sit the fuck down! Neutral

Mono, it sounds like you've had too much of a good thing and now you are getting cranky. Maybe it's time for a bottle and a nap Razz Laughing
