I can see where JoeB and Robben back to back would be a mismatch to some, but being a huge fan of both I'd welcome the double feature. JMHO. Heck, I 'd go as far as to say that I wouldn't mind either one featured with Dream Theater. Sounds crazy I know, but it's all in how you take it. Again, JMHO...

Oh, and thanks for the reviews!

I'm a very divers listener and big music fan too and a bit obsessed with it all. My whole life is set up so I can experience music at all corners. The only place its hard to listen is at work, I have a boom box and computer but they expect me to work and think so I leave it very low.

Joe B. played a theater inside a casino called the "rail head", I lived about 1 1/2 miles away from this place for 12 years and moved across town about 5 years ago. I saw Robben Ford there for the "supernatural" tour by myself and I saw Robin Trower there Friday and was in about the same place for Joe. B. last night. This locals casino was packed both nights (stupid bowl and all). I had reserved seats for Trower but Joe was GA but they left the seats from the trower show. I knew it would be crazy so we got in the already formed big line at about 6:30 and the theater was about full at 7:20 show at 8:00. This kid is doing the right things with exposure and he has played a lot at this place over the last 5 years so he has a huge Las Vegas following.

Flame les Paul most of the night mixed with a few acoustic songs, no shouting just good crowd involved fun. This was one of the most divers crowds I have ever seen old people young people and middle people like me Neutral

I'm sure it sold out and many people were turned away for Friday and Saturday's shows. The early bird gets the goods.

OK I took the -12 points and bet on the 'Patriots', will see how that goes.

Sorry about the all about me post I just wanted to get this out.

Well, I'm one of the many who were turned away since I didn't get my ticket in advance. I tried to bribe the lady sitting at the will-call table to sell me a ticket after the show started. I've seen Robben at the Railhead inside Boulder Station in the late 90's...seems like a better venue for Joe B. I think the Canyon Club inside the Four Queens is a better venue for Robben. I hope Joe will continue to play the Railhead during the Thursday night Blues Series in '08.

Well thanks Momo for playing that game , it seems we have the same taste, i've never dug opening acts especially when they act like you said.
In fact this summer i had to endure the over cruel Eric Sardinas opening for Jeff BECK , ohhhhhhhhhh don't get me wrong i love Slide playing and i liked hishch infatuation of Roy Rogers meets voodoo chile whom cousin is the taylor of S.R.V, but it was totally a perfect mismatch to make the story short. Just like you said , i say , overplaying, shouting, overloud, & WAY TOO LONG SET .
Then Musicinmysoul i wouldn't you think about me as a schmuck but obviously you've reached the wrong board . You're more bonamasich than robeenish. Personally i would have spent the first act drinking cocktails just to keep my ears fresh & clean for the FORD experience
.i know i am an ego trip just by myself.
Then Momo Lord praises U . Whatever happened to you , you know who is the igniter of the fashion thread. AH italian boots , pfffffffffffffffffffff

Although I wasn't at the Santa Ana show I personally would of loved the opportunity to see a co-bill such as Robben and Joe B. That must of been what it truly was. I heard Joe played an entire set not an opening type set. For the promoters that is what they are looking for to fill a big room. I'm not sure what Robben would of done on his own there.

As a fan of both I can get excited by both there unique styes of live performance. Robben is much more subtle. Joe comes out blazing. Believe it or not he has toned it down as of late. The original three piece line up he had was much more edgy. The new band with Carmine Rojas on bass is much more controlled.

I saw the Feb 2nd show in Vegas. I wouldn't call Joe a shouter. He just has a grittier voice than Robben.

Joe and Carmine were using Plexi Glass amp shields to keep from killing the first few rows which seemed to make the volume of the small room he was playing a comfortable level.

Robben is a legend with nothing to prove to his fans but still is a well kept secret. Playing a co-bill to get a little cross pollinating going is a good thing.

nice Neutral

I had a couple of friends that showed up late and were SOL, others that sat in the back row. I had a very good spot because this is not my first time.

Robben is a huge influence on me and my playing for 20 + years, Joe B. is growing like a weed. I am one lucky mother father that I can see them both in a 7 day span.

Sorry you missed out I will see you and them next time.

there is some intresting points of view off one thread on the gear page.
for me i've seen lucky peterson opening for Robben , not only he tored the place down but when robben came there was not much crowd left.
This kind of evening is strange when all the performers are great.Plus i can't figure out why they never jam ......or almost ........
RF JB no jam, In paris a few years ago Robert cray & RF ,no jam etc.....
