Robben Ford Discussion

I've seen Robben countless times over the years dating back to the Yellowjackets at the Golden Bear and most recently at Harlow's in Sac Town. While I would enjoy Robben in any format, I think he's especially good in trio. As I see it, more of Robben is a good thing and his talent really shows.

At Harlow's ... Robben had Travis and Gary with him ... great show. When Gary Novak started playing with Robben, I did not like it as well as Tom's drumming ... taking nothing away from Tom ... Gary's adding a fresh edge (not typical blues drumming) maybe more of a rock edge to Robben's material. Gary is playing possessed right now and reminded me of Vinnie at Yoshi's one night.

I first heard Travis at the Crest with Robben and Larry. And at Harlow's, he took over a few times - once when Robben broke a string during and intro. I hope they keep this together for a while longer and either record live or put out a cd.
