I've looooong been a fan of Robben's since I first heard him on the Casino Lights LP and of course "Yellowjackets" and "The Inside Story" and the various sideman efforts in the late '70s/early '80s.

Then, like so many others, I enjoyed his leader albums of blues and blues based material.

What do I love about Robben's playing - first and foremost it's his phrasing and articulation - every note has it's own dynamic level, tone and articulation - a slide here, a bend there - there's a little spin put on every note and phrase (something I also love about Jeff Beck), and, of course, there is the gorgeous tone and the perfect combination of jazz sophistication with truly soulful feel.

It doesn't look like an awful lot of activity is going on here but just reading through the old posts is interesting.

It ebbs and flows a little bit, Max. There are certainly times when it's very active.

And Welcome to the board!
