Seen Robben many times now and agree that he was on fire (especially the first set). Astonishing playing. Very animated performance too.
Hard to read the signals, but occasional glances at the gear and a few whispered words to the tech made me suspect that he may not have been completely happy with something on stage.....
I'm really hoping it becomes a regular venue for his UK tours. With a bit of luck Larry might book a couple too. Deep joy. |
Hi there, we were sitting pretty close to each other then.
I was with a friend, seats AB5 and AB6.
I agree with the deep joy |

Agree with everyone else a brilliant gig at the Stables. Does anyone know if Robben did any signing afterwards, we hung around until 2230 but had to leave then (after bringing vinyl and my Art of Blues Rhythm DVD). The Stables is great for appreciating the music and he was on fire as always, no flashes going off this time either to upset the proceedings unlike the Jazz Cafe last December and the Mean Fiddler the year before (they were still memorable gigs, "Happy Birthday" in December last year etc...). I'm hoping he'll come back in the Autumn again, will definitely be there. The only thing I spotted was lots of people wanting to buy copies of "Truth" in the short interval but none appeared to be on sale there!.
A UK Clinic would really be the icing on the cake - how about it? I'm sure lots of us would be happy to pay for this (I've been promised a US holiday taking in one of these next year...if I complete certain DIY tasks this year) |

Yes he did, I guess a very few minutes after you left, apparently.
He looked very relaxed and he hung around a little bit to chat with the few fellas that were left and do the signing. |

That would indeed be the icing.
Actually check out his new Rythmn DVD (if you havn't already). Recorded from a US clinic. Some real nice stuff on there, and a great insight into how these are run.
Good luck with the DIY chores...
