At long last, I get to see the great man live!!!! Manchester, UK tomorrow evening. Also meeting one of the forum members for the first time and looking forward to that too.

The only question is, how do I get invited up to jam some blues?.........

Though i've been reported some strange bad cases of people swearing they stop aelectric guitar playing right after enjoying 140 mn of Robben's Band

Just got back from the Manchester RF gig. Aside from a rather tepid audience (in places), it was a damn fine introduction to the man in person. Mssrs Carlton and Panos on bass drums as per Diatonicdude's recent post and man, are those guys good. Panos is by far the best percussion man I have ever seen live. Ollie Brown was in support - a marvellous young English blues player with a superb little band (bass/drums).

Plenty of stuff from Truth and a spot of Blue Line (Prisoner).

Copped a look at the Zendrive settings after the show and was quite surprised as a user - will have to try those out later in the week!

Robben is simply unbelievably, unutterably gifted. 'Nuff said.

My gratitude to Denis from this forum for the original heads up and his excellent company tonight.

glad to hear you enjoyed the music. You have got to admit, he is a bit bl**dy special!!!

Like you, I sometimes wonder if members of the audience really realise just how priviledged they are to be able to see such a superb musician play. I guess not everyone goes around shouting above the tree tops about such things; I can't help it as I only have the intent to make people aware of some of the fantastic live music to be experienced.

Blob mentioned about people wanting to lay the electric down in defience after seeing the man play, well I have been there but now adays these live shows give me one huge positive push to improve my playing. This must be a good thing.

Picture this, yourself, Blob, Johnny, RWFTB, Kirk, Henk, PierreL...etc, etc...... all at our very own private forum gig and seminar maybe to celebrate a landmark in the years the forum has been up and running. Now wouldn't that be something special (the only problems would be where to stage it and if Robben would do it!)?

i can't get the fact that all these gear has such a own life in the purpose
of breaking our little nerves. Jacks : yes they made knots all by themselves during the night, amps u just can glue the knobs he will never sound the same andguitars , these bitchy things give you some reward IF only you stay a lot of time with..........................

Good to see so many singing the praises of one amazing drummer, at the MK gig I thought for a moment I was transported to a "Tommy Era" Who gig, he physically resembles Moon from that era but with amazing precision - needs the monster Premier kit arranged in the flat configuration of course. Very Impressive (looked like some of his own kit judging from the road cases at MK). Now looking forward to a return visit later this year

Watching Mr Panos drumming last night, there was some sort of hum coming off the monitor by his head and as Robben was belting out a solo, Tos (is that spelled right?) was shouting instructions across the stage to the foldback mixer - you could hear him above the band! He never missed a bloody beat and his solos were sublime (and I HATE drum solos). Travis Carlton played some mega cool bass lines too - a couple of extremely well thought out and organic solos and overall, probably the best rhythm section on British soil this week. That said, Ollie Brown's band was pretty bloody tight and with amazing feel for such an obviously young line up. I hate 'em.........

The Sakashta (thuffering thakashta, like the man used to say....) sounded rather tasty, especially when Robben stuck the Zendrive into gear. Used a Fender Twin and a Super Reverb. I can see me buying one of the latter when my cheque comes in.....

I was looking for the right word for what Robben does and the best one I can think of for now is 'craftsman'. There is artistry indeed and a comfortable familiarity with his guitar, but a little tension around the edges. It's like he's a loaded spring that is ready to just kick off and last night, I think we saw 85% of his real power - scary to think what he's like with a bigger stage and a more dynamic crowd. Don't get me wrong - some lovely people there last night and a lot of affection for RF came across - just too restrained.

I found myself uttering various comments at several points without meaning to; it was a bit like watching one of those sporting events where you just can't help shouting out in support. I'm not given to public displays of excitement (except that time with the sheep, but the less said about that the better), but tonight, I can still feel the tingle and buzz from what happened yesterday and I don't dare pick up my guitar just yet for fear that I'll also pick up a handsaw and cut the neck of it!

Volume 10 o'clock

Gain 10 o'clock

Tone Dimed! (this is the part that surprised me)

Voice 10/11 o'clock

That'll be 15 Euros and a Panos with some Landau on it.........

Ach , great thanks sir Millibobs. I feel you mean Tone Zero or may be there is no more pot so it's hard to figure the setting. I am so nosy , and these , tone & voice works particulary well together.....ahah ah ,
