Hey everybody.
Has anyone of you guys and ladies (Liz) heard the two albums "Echoes of Ellington". Is it any good - yes I know all Robben records are fantastic, but it's a Japanese import and not a low cost.
So if you've got a opion please reply

I actually have the video - Volume 2. I believe it's from 1988. Robben is part of a big band (and he's wearing a tux, Elizabeth!). He has extended solos on three tunes: Creole Love Song, It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing), and Caravan. No "Politician" overdrive here, but great, clean, jazz/fusion and blues lines.

Hi,
I've got the CD, and it's not bad, but there's not much guitar apart from the 3 songs mentioned above.
The solo in Don't Mean A Thing... is pretty cool. The band breaks away from the double time jazz thang back into a more straight ahead rock/blues for Robben... nice twist. Haven't played the CD in a while but I seem to recall Robben using the melody from "I want to be in America" in his solo at one point which I was pretty impressed with at the time.
