Another jaw dropper!
This is my second time seeing Robben live and it was definitely the better of the two shows, even though it was significantly shorter. Not that the first was bad, but last night's performance was clearly one that got the guys amped up on the crowd's energy. The fun they were having was displayed on their faces and it made it that much more fun to watch.
The audience was appreciative from the opener (no, I can't do set lists from my head and I can't even remember what they played first, but I was thrilled to hear both Indianola and Cannonball Shuffle!) and through the set to the end.
Robben was in fine form and just let it RIP on one tune that I can't remember (sorry, I blame it on the age thing) but the Tele took some wonderful punishment, all with a big satisfied grin on Robben's face (and mine). Amazing that he never went out of tune once, especially after having Daved restring both (that Sakashta is a beautiful piece of work, isn't it?) axes before the show! Who'd a thunk it?
Great show, just too short. We went to the dinner show because we wanted guaranteed front row seats, but now I'm thinking the second show might be better just for the chance to fit more music in.
Anyway it was a blast, and my 13y.o. musician daughter and her guitar playing friend now have a much more rounded exposure to what the instrument and music in general are all about. Mission accomplished!

Thanks for the review . I've been in Seattle once in my life and i've seen Horace <silver in the Jazz Alley , so sweet souvenirs ...., i was upstairs.
Now don't worry , i am with you on this one , Robben plays barely more than 1 Hour & 40 mn encore included, i used to be very upset about that, but i've put some water in my wine so to say , i can understand now , when you give that focus to music & people without taking any drugs , 100 minuts is good............. _________________ http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=147748

If only....I think it was about 75 minutes, tops. They left the stage at 8:30, exactly 1 hour after the start, then played two songs for the encore.
They were playing another show at 9:30 so I guess they were trying to fit in the meet and greet too, but when you do dinner and drinks at that joint plus the tickets, an hour and slightly+ show kind of leaves you hangin'.

Well i hear you again, ithink in this case i prefer to stay to the 2 concerts even if my wallet suffers . Less than 1h 40 mn can lead me to extreme position of frustration , like an addict i wanna my Robben Ford Fix and i want it good with a strong long high otherwise i can yell : Petits bras .

Saw the 9:30 show last night at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley. GREAT, GREAT, show. Tele, Sakashta, and P-90 equipped Gold Top for the encore. Tan Dumble head with the tan Dumble 2 x 12 loaded with the reissue Celestion G12-65s. Super Reverb as well, with what looked like CTS Alnicos. Pretty special. Talked to Rick (Carlton's tech) before and after the show. He said the second show was longer and laced with some different songs RF hadn't played for a while. Indianola was killer (kind of an extended version) and Earthquake was spectacular. Lots of songs off the latest album Truth as well. Talked to Daved after show as well for a while. (both Daved and Carltons tech Rick are GREAT people and very approachable)
All in all a great night. Even got to talk to Robben for a few minutes as we were leaving.

I just got back from seeing Robben's show (Sunday night), and think it it was a great, albeit short, show. Robben was in fine form, and it was great to hear live versions of his latest CD.
I've seen Robben 10-12 times now, and I like that he uses different musicians. I had never seen Toss Panos (drums) before, but I LOVE the grooves and attitude he has. He really changed things up, and was a nice contrast from previous drummers I've seen with Robben. I spoke with John Button (bassist from Sheryl Crow's band), and he said he was called in on short notice, with no rehearsals. I think he did a fine job, and maybe the sets were short because they didn't have time to rehearse him into more material. None the less, he did a good job. We're lucky that Robben likes to perform in Seattle.

Please excuse my cynicism but I have never and hope to never go to one out of two sets. The artist that I am seeing usually only comes around every 2 or 3 years so I am going to miss half the show of the night??? No fucking way!!
It's easy: you make reservations the first week the shows are announced and you go and you can usually stay in the same seats for the second set.
The second set is almost always better then the first, freer longer and the players are all wormed up. If the artist is a party-er then you can see them fall into the amps and stuff, good fun!

I am plus one with Rob on this .
Some good souvenirs from Steve Lukather & gang at the Baked Potatoe.
If you can't make the 2 shows better stick to the second one.

A slight aside...
I noticed in your equipment list, SuperReverb2, a "Zenkudo". So, I did a Google search which led me to The Gear Page. I know, I should not have gone there, but I did. What a bunch of idiots (some, not all) bickering over anything and everything! Unbelievable!
