Very glad Edpesco invited me for visiting the show with Robben Ford in studiotheater am Bahnhof Fishbach yesterday evening. First time that we could enjoy a show together. Robben and his band mates were in good shape. They played very tight with some magic moments. Robben ‘s voice and guitar sounded strong. In a couple of songs there was some great improvising. For example Railey B King. Great solo in the middle.
We spoke briefly with Robben and Daved. They both enjoyed the show. A reason Robben did 2 encores. The live DVD (Paris) was canceled, but the live CD is still planned in January. Robben also spoke about some plans to do Clinics worldwide. In May there is a Clinic in Köln.
Setlist in Fischback was:
How deep
Lateral climb
Indianola
Nothing to nobody
Don’t deny your love
Cannon ball S
Railley B King
Prison of love
Nobody’s fault
Derrick”s blues
Never be another you
Peace of my mind
Lovin cup
Supernatural (1st encore)
Tired of talking(2nd encore) |

Nice to see some of the older, Blue Line songs in the mix.
Thanks for the fine review, Henk. And two encores! The audience must've left their flash cameras at home... _________________ Soul on Eleven |

There was one clear announcement about the nonono-policy at the beginning of the show. Seems to work. |

I will now try to translate Henk's review for Americans:
Robben and his band mates were in good shape.
Robbe and his bandmates were smoking-cooking-boiling in the shape of their liftime
They played very tight with some magic moments.
Their playing was unbelievably stunning and they surprized us again and again with their vitality and coolness and spread the magic around and acted like three stage magigians
Robben ‘s voice and guitar sounded strong.
Robben's voice was a revelation and his sound by far exceeded even his usual milestone-status
In a couple of songs there was some great improvising.
The improvisational level throughout exceeded our boldest dreams and was more than a poor boy can bear
For example Railey B King. Great solo in the middle.
Robben's solo on Ryley B. could be called a classic if it had been recorded
We spoke briefly with Robben and Daved.
We talked to Robben and Daved for 3 hours and got drunk and insane
They both enjoyed the show. A reason Robben did 2 encores
They both were so enthusiastic about the show and especially the audience that Robben would have liked to play for at least another 2 hours but he told us that he was too exhausted as he had given everything he was able to and this was the best concert of his life there can't come anything better after that and he will now fly home donate his Dumbles and Sakashta to a charity auction and retire.[/b] _________________ www.soultingo.at |
