ok, i am relatively new to Robben's music. I have become a huge fan in the last 8 months to year. I have "truth", "talk to your daughter" and "blue moon" so far. I love all three of them. Any suggestions on the next 2 to 3 cd's I need to buy? any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

"Supernatural" it's like "truth" but (dare i say) better. The first Blue line disk and "Tiger walk".

These are some of my favorites and I have all RF's stuff.

Have fun!

If you're mostly interested in Robben's guitar playing, and want to spread out your Robben listening a bit wider, try Orbit by Neil Larsen, Jing Chi or Jing Chi Live at Yoshi's, and Tiger Walk as mentioned by rainmkr63.

I hate to complicate things by giving more suggestions, but in addition to all the above (which I strongly recommend as well), Robben's albums with the Blue Line band are, I think, often considered the quintessential Robben albums.

These are: "Robben Ford and the Blue Line", "Mystic Mile" and "Handful of Blues", plus the live acoustic "Authorized Bootleg".

Impossible to pick a favorite from these, but if pressed, I'd suggest "Handful of Blues" to start with.

Also get "The Yellowjackets" and "The Inside Story" if you like innovation in jazz/blues playing.

I love most of R.F.'s music but those are probably my top 3. "Supernatural" I go back to all the time and "Tiger Walk", the new DVD highlights a lot of the Tiger walk songs, that is a very good DVD.

Enjoy and welcome to the club!

There are also a few often overlooked discs. For a great sampling of his early work, the Robben Ford Anthology: The Early Years (Avenue Jazz) is excellent. Also, he recorded two CDs with his brother Mark, Mark Ford With The Robben Ford Band, and Mark Ford And The Blue Line (both on Blue Rock'it), which highlight his boogie and blues playing.

Of course, as I'm sure anyone in this group will attest to, you can't really go wrong with any of his CDs.

i'd say "Handful of Blues" and the "Authorized Bootleg". I also really dig his live playing on "Live At the Notodden Blues Festival (1991)" with Jimmy Witherspoon. "Keep on Running" has some cool stuff too.
