Anyone from NY? I saw Robben a few months ago at the Highline Ballroom. Does anyone know if the upcoming NY or NJ gigs are the same show? I was blown away and would have went back the next night again if he was playing a second night.

He's playing the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie on Feb. 8 with Jorma. It's billed as "Guitar Blues".

Does anyone know, maybe from Robbens camp why the February 2nd BB Kings gig is not listed on his website? It shows it on the BB Kings calendar. Is it happening?

Hey DaveH, I take it you're going? I'll be in front row, center balcony, seat 1... Very Happy

I've been thinking about it, but haven't decided yet. I'll let you know if I do!

Ruthie Foster was one of the most exciting shows I saw in 2008 -- and maybe my top favorite (right up there with seeing Robben headline the Tampa Bay Bluesfest and seeing Eric Bibb at Longwood Gardens). I am looking forward to hearing Ruthie's new CD, "The Truth According to Ruthie Foster", which will be released next month. I read that Robben plays on her new CD (so just maybe they will perform some songs together on the upcoming tour!)

They most probably will play together, if this show is anything like the gig Robben had a few years ago with John Mayall and Eric Bibb where they each did their own stuff and then joined forces... Very Happy

I loved that tour! I went to St. Louis to see it because there were no tour dates in Florida, and I had never been to St. Louis before or seen the Mississippi River. It was a great roadtrip.

There's no tour dates in Florida for the Guitar Blues show either, but I will get to see Ruthie Foster at the Tampa Bay Bluesfest March 20-22, and I also have a roadtrip planned to see the Guitar Blues tour. I can hardly wait to see three of my favorite musicians playing together on the same stage !

I haven't seen Jorma play since my last visit to Fur Peace Ranch in 2007. I got to meet Pinetop Perkins and Bob Margolin there that weekend (and I'm going to see them, again, tonight at Skippers!) I read that Jorma also has a new CD coming out soon, so I look forward to hearing some new and old stuff from him.

I saw this promotional description yesterday on the web [Rosebud Agency site], and I thought it was too cool not to pass along: "If any one song can encapsulate the cascade of emotions of The Truth According to Ruthie Foster, it would be “Truth!” This track gave the album its name and enforces its essential message. After a slash-and-burn guitar intro by Ford, Foster sums it all up in one line: “Truth is right where you are”

Amen Very Happy

I just picked up tickets for one of the shows here in Chicago (they're playing at 2 colleges in the burbs). My wife and I had originally thought we were going to be out of town, but plans changed so we'll do the concert instead.

I'm hoping for a heavy dose of Robben that evening, but I did check out Foster's Myspace page, and she sounds good. One of the songs you can listen to there definitely has Robben on some blazing blues guitar--I'm pretty sure it was the above-mentioned truth.

Should be a fun night.

I heard a track on the radio this morning from Jorma's new CD. It was a Rev. Gary Davis tune, "There's a Bright Side Somewhere."

The three new songs posted on Ruthie's MySpace sound great, too.

Jorma and Ruthie will most likely be touring in support of their new albums; I wonder what songs Robben will play on this tour? I saw that Dewayne Pate will be playing bass, but I haven't seen mention of any other band members? Does anyone know anything?
