Yep, I'll be there with a group of six. Two of them will be seeing Robben for the first time. Looking forward to hearing their reaction.

Oh MAN! What a show! This is the third time I've seen Robben but I've never even HEARD of him being this on! Maybe it was the moon or the NAMM show or I don't even know, but Robben was in great spirits and put on one hell of a show. He even stuck around after the show to sign a few autographs and I got to shake his hand. If I remember right there was a thread here once talking about how his handshake was very loose and stuff, which may have been because hes a musician and is protecting his hands, but he was just in a great mood and gave me a firm hand shake. It's random but it's important to me...anyway, here's a set list.

Lateral Climb
Indianola (AWESOME, this one really tore the roof off the place)
How Deep In The Blues
Nothin' To Nobody
Riley B. King
Cannonball Shuffle
Too Much
Spoonful (he brought Yogi Worsham up to sit in on this)
Moonchild Blues
Never Be Another You
Peace On My Mind
--------------------
Random jam with Yogi
Supernatural

Just a great experience overall. The second opening band was horrible but were going to ignore that fact.

Interesting story about the first opener Give Me Back My Wig though...I've got a couple really random connections to that band so I never would have imagined were there. The guitarist Joe Campbell used to teach guitar at the place I took lessons years ago. He subed for my guitar teacher when he went to Poland once. So there was that. And then apparently one of my good concert-going friends is good friends with the bass player. So in the end I never really needed to buy a ticket, Joe's wife Kay (wonderfully nice lady) got me in for free and sat my guitar teacher and I with her family, great seats.

So anyway, yeah, incredible night. Robben was really on his game and seemed to have a lot of fun.

Yoga Worsham is a guy who is currently playing with Chris Cornell...Robben's words, not mine.

Travis was on bass, and I didn't recognize the guy on drums, and his name is escaping me right now, he was fantastic though. Maybe someone else can fill in there...

Hey all.
New member here.
I also was at the Coach House to see Robben. Yep, pretty awesome. I've seen him many times and took his seminar up in Ojai CA where he lives a couple of years ago. Great experience. Met his wife, Anne who is herself a pretty talented singer.
Yogi is... Yogi LONICH. For some reason, Robben was having a hard time remembering his last name. I spoke with him briefly after the show. He is in fact touring with Chris Cornell formerly with Soundgarden.
Travis Carlton was on bass... he is the son of Larry Carlton and he was a monster bass player.
Toss Panos was playing drums. Another monster musician. Robben was in great company Saturday night. Great Show!

I kept an eye out for you but didn't do a very good job of finding you. Maybe next show.

Great show put on by Robben, of course. He was much more talkative on stage than usual and that was great. I've always hoped he would chat up the audience more because he's good at it.

The opening bands were interesting. I dug the singer of the first band but the rest of them weren't my thing. The bass player made me think of Derek Smalls (This is Spinal Tap). The facial expressions and the rock and roll antics were too funny.

The second band was kind of the opposite. Solid musicians but they needed the singer from the first band. They had two guitar players and one of them was so far to the side of the stage you'd have thought he was in a different band. He was playing a solid state amp and it was really interesting to hear the difference between his sound and the other guy with a tube amp of some kind. I really dug the drummer and the tube amp guitar player in this band.

Anyway, I took some crappy pictures with my iPhone (http://gallery.me.com/jconstant/100293) just to give you guys a look. One thing that was especially nice about this show was that nobody was bothering Robben with cameras! I just took a few while he was playing being careful to keep my phone low so it didn't bother him then put it away.

Anyway, you can see in the pics Robben was playing his standard Dumble rig and also his '66 Fender Super Reverb. He had his '62 Epiphone Riviera on stage but never did play it. He said he hoped we didn't mind him trying out different guitars because sometimes they just sit under his piano for too long and then need to be brought out.

This trio is really starting to gel. They've always been great but I could tell a nice difference in the energy and comfort level. They sounded great.

A great time as always and a couple friends I brought who had never seen Robben thought he was awesome. No surprise there.

Jim

Yogi Lonich?? My bad! I just googled Chris Cornell Yogi and that's what I got. He looked like Peter Green up on that stage, it was a little eerie...

jconstant, jim,

Thank you for posting the link to your images, but my computer/browser won't show them. They appear to be .png files. I use Win XP and Firefox on my computer. Any suggestions? Any way to post them as .jpg files?

Anyways, thanks to all for the info on the show.

Alan

I found the inability to see the images is a fault with Firefox 3. Am able to see them with IE. Thanks!

Being a skeptic, and (maybe) overly cautious, I run various security utilities to control scripts, ads, flash ect in my Firefox browser. Probably some configuration complications, but you can't be too careful out there! Wink

Hi Alan,

So you're good now on the pics? You can see them okay?

I've used Firefox 3 on a Windows machine at work and it's clear they have some issues to work out. Maybe this is one of them.
