I don't remember who told me the story, but I think Ed bought the rights at a liquidation auction of the company's assets.

Just to be clear, Gene Baker sold Ed Roman nothing. Baker Guitars got into financial difficulty and its assets were auctioned. Roman was simply the highest bidder ...and thus a truly great brand was not just tarnished, but flushed.
