One of my favorite Robben CD's. Sounds like a Super Reverb on 6 or 7. Add in that big Gibson hollowbody and it is a recipe for tone. Closer to that West Coast blues sound ala Hollywood Fats. Way cool. |

It's a textbook on how to accompany a singer. Robben's playing is spot on and never steps on 'Spoon's vocals.

Woah, I didn't know there were so many albums with Mr. Witherspoon...I'll have to look into those... _________________ "Music is the only thing that you can share with a million million people and you don't lose, you gain. The 'Mint' gig had Tom, Roscoe, and Russ Ferrente. Quite a backup band, I'd say. I also like the Notodden show.
Regarding Hollywood Fats.... I never heard of him until a few years ago. If you've not heard him, you're missing out. 'In your face' swing. Wish he had stuck around. |

Recently picked up a CD, Hollywood Fats with the Palladins Live. Terrible sound quality but they just burn. Fats was a great player and could swing his ass off. I also have him on several cuts on a James Harman cassette (California blues harp master). Great stuff. |
