Good work Tritone.

Here's my "Danocaster". Even more Robben-esque in reality. Very Happy

Danocaster does aged F style guitars, and does it well.

I'm doing a special introductory price of $1695.00 shipped. Half down and half on delivery. The customer requested a 25" scale and brass saddles with this one I did. All the aging is based off pics I found of the original Robben

Thanks,
Dave

Would it be less expensive if I wanted one in mint condition without all the wear and tear and aging? :-)

That's a good question...how much fading do you put into the finish? In other words how does the finish look new? Or rather how DID the finish look new on the originals?

This guitar does have a tele style neck. THis one is actually from USACG. I was trying to give an idea of profile of neck, my mistake.

The finish was sprayed this color and dulled down to look worn.

It would be more expensive to have it look like new.

Thanks,
Dave

I think he meant the neck has 22 and not 21 frets
+
the butt end of the neck is straight like a Strat and not curved like a Tele.

Not to steal a great thread ... just an inquiry from the Tele pros. My son has a 1983 tele, it does not have the strings coming through the body, they run through the plate on the top. The guitar also has individual string adjustments instead of being group in pairs of two referred to as a toploader bridge. He says the true tele sound comes from a guitar pictured in this thread and wants to reengineer backwards. Is there wisdom in this?

My son's guitar is like the one pictured in this thread.

Michael,
I somehow missed your question before, but would like to address it now, as it is something I have some strong
feelings about.

Modding guitars to make them be like some other guitar... WHY, I ask?!?

I see and hear all the time of folks who want to turn their axe into a different axe merely because they'd rather have
one truer to the original/more commonly accepted model.
If you are seeking a specific model or version of a model... go acquire one!
Don't trash a distinctive personality purely because you wish you had a 'common' version.

"Cosmetic" mods and minor adjustments to fine tune what you already have, I have no problem with. Change the color,
add or remove a pickguard, change the string gauges, change the pickups, replace endpins with straplocks,
change the machineheads, nut, or frets... and so on. These are all fine things to do to make your baby more distinctively
your own.

But, "structural" changes... no, no, no, IMHO!

A feaky Tele 'Franky' (Frankenstein... my term, lol) built during the Fender/CBS upheaval is, to MY eyes and
ears, a collector's item... something you will not run into every day.

Aex Skonick once had a mid 70's Tele with humbuckers and wildly altered tailpiece with whammy bar, among other
'extreme' variations, which he asked me to try to convert to a more conventional Tele, because that's what he wanted...
a more conventional Tele.
I asked the folks at Fender about this particular Tele, to satisfy my own curiosity as to why such an extemely modded Tele
existed. They told me that during the Fender/CBS mayhem period, a LOT of experimentation went on and a lot of strange
"Frankies" surfaced with very little documentation... this obviously was one.

But I know exactly what they were doing... they were trying to make "new" instruments in an attempt to develop "new"
models for marketing to the consumers. Whether the experiments succeeded or not is up to the sensibilities of the artist
using the instrument... but to use something designed to be one thing, as something else? Well, I feel that in that
case you are just shooting youself in the foot.
To modify this thing would have taken major body and hardware rework and, again IMHO, destroyed a very individualistic
instrument. And for what purpose? It will NEVER be a "true" Tele!

Sure, it may not sound, or play, exactly like your standard, expected, classic Tele, but it will also stand distinctively apart
from any other axe out there.

I say, if you don't want to use it regularly as part of your own musical "voice", then keep that instrument as a 'stand-alone'
for special occasions and/or projects when you are looking for something uniquely different.
Don't destroy it's individuality purely because it IS different, merely to try and turn it into your classicly accepted model!
If you want a standard, everyday, model guitar of some specific style, go buy the damn thing... ! Wink
There are PLENTY of people making copies of the same old thing already, so this should be no problem at all.

Just, PLEASE, do not kill your "ugly duckling" merely because it does not fit in with the crowd.
