As I mentioned (with pictures) on Facebook, I recently tried out a Vox Virage at the Tone Summit in Northern Cal and really liked it.

The nice people at Vox/Korg got wind of it and brought me one of my own to our Allman Brothers gig at Jones Beach, NY, last night.

Designed by Rich Lasner ( http://www.guitarplayer.com/article/vox-virage-sc/may-08/36095 ), light and nicely balanced, with a fully carved contour semi-acoustic body, it has a beautiful sunburst ash top with mahogany back and neck, 22 medium-jumbo fret, bound rosewood fingerboard, aluminum custom bridge, and two DiMarzio "Three-90" pickups.

Tho I haven't tried it at the necessary volume levels yet, it has innovative Tone Bars internally to retain the semi-hollow warmth and resonance while highly resisting feedback.

I do know, however, that I find it feels comfortable and plays easily, has a nice warmly clear, chiming resonance acoustically, sounds good to me even thru the few, small, cheapo amps I've tried it with, and I can hardly wait to get it home to try thru my Vox AC30. Wink I love it!

Like Robben's being surprised to find himself, after all these years, so much a "Tele guy"... I really think I'm finding myself to be a "Vox guy"....

After all, I've been desiring to acquire an early vintage Vox teardrop 12 string for some time now, and I love the mid '60's, 'Gibson-335' style, Vox bass (with HUGE 'paddle head'... Laughing ) that I've owned for over 10 years now, and, in addition to the small Vox Pathfinder/R amp I own, I think my AC30 A-class style amp with "blue" alnico speakers sound is totally the s--t (for me and my thing, anyway), and now, my Virage sure seems to be sending me reeling into the heart of the Vox world, doesn't it? Laughing
Oh well, I'm certainly not complaining. Smile

Vox also makes a SC (single cutaway) model semi-acoustic, similar in style to a Les Paul, and have sent an all mahogany one to my home to try out.

I'm curious what Robben will think about them and am anxious to have him check them out and give his thoughts and opinions.

Congrats on what looks to be a great guitar!

I read that GP review when it came out, and thought it sounded like a very nice instrument, with lots of versatility.

Daved, could you post some pics? What do you think about the pickups? It seems like a very versatile guitar with lots of tone.

Thanks

Thanx.

I also have a beautiful red single cutaway, all carved mahogany. Now that I've figured out this photobucket thing, I'll take some pix of it too and post them in a few days.

I'm really loving these guitars. They're gorgeous, comfortable, very playable, and great sounding to my ears.

I spoke with Robbenon the phone about them and he's anxious to check them out.
