I have a feeling Robben really likes the playing of LA guitarist Mike Miller. Check out the two links I've attached showing some great playing by Miller with the Chick Corea Elektric Band. And, the rhythm section includes players from certain lineups of Robben's bands, Jimmy Earl (b) & Gary Novak (d).

Those clips are 15-16 years old. Does this genre of music sound old/dated in the way that rock music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and so on, sounds dated ? Or, is it like Blues, where you can't tell if something was recorded yesterday, or 30 years ago?

I don't think I've ever heard Mike Miller before, but I love this quote I found when I googled him:

Taken from an article at http://www.allaboutjazz.com/iviews/mikemiller.htm

"There's not much to learn from a good experience..." - Mike Miller

The interview is interesting; this quote is a keeper.

On the second Yellowjackets recording (1983) Robben Ford is credited with guitar on 4 songs, Mike Miller on the other 4 including one composed by Miller. I really like the record and all the tunes.
When I saw him a few times in those days in some small clubs in the San Fernando valley (playing with his own group, the Outside Men), he was using the Yamaha amp like Robben had in those days. I really like the style of music in the clips, is there anyone currently doing anything like this?

Unbelievable how versatile those musicians are! I didn't know Gary Novak was THAT good...

I love album Mike Miller did as a part of "the Outsidemen" many years ago. It's called Band Overboard. Highly recommended!
