You know, the more I think about it, this is pretty exciting! I've never heard Robben play with more than one horn, much less a big band. (Well, I saw him with 2 horns once in a Bloomfield/Butterfield tribute show. )
I wonder if they'll be doing mostly RF tunes or if he will be a featured soloist on other 'big band' stuff. Either way, this sounds very exciting and a switch from the RF I've heard.
I don't read Danish. Is this available on internet radio? I'll try the links on my home pc. I'd love to find a way to record it to my computer.
Does anyone have any ideas? |

Yes, internet radio program P2

Here is the text in English
The American super guitarist Robben Ford has previously cooperated with Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Witherspoon, Miles Davis, Bonnie Raitt and George Harrison. Now he comes to Denmark to play with the DR Big Band.
Robben Ford moves effortlessly between musical genres, he is one of the most popular blues guitarists today, and he is all four times been nominated for a Grammy. In the 1980s and '90s he starred in a sea of jazz, pop and rock records, but in Denmark he is perhaps best known for the hit Talk to Your Daughter from 1988, which incidentally also gave him his first Grammy nomination.
In careers, Robben Ford has cooperated with prominent names such as Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Witherspoon, Miles Davis, George Harrison, Phil Lesh, Bonnie Raitt, Claus Ogerman, Michael McDonald and many, many more - and now it is so successful in DR Big Band to beat the claw of the prominent and highly sought after guitarist.
Friday 13th in November you can experience Robben Ford Live in Concert House of Studio 2 with the DR Big Band in the project "When Jazz meets Blues" - the repertoire will be a mixture of Robben Ford's own numbers, BB King numbers and single standard. A concert filled with groovy and intense blues!
Tickets for the concert 13th November can be purchased at dr.dk / koncerthuset or billetnet.dk.

Many thanks for the DL-link! I totally forgot to record it. It's nice to hear Robben play his songs with the big band instead of a trio. Moonchild is my favorite.

Thanks so much, Stechmann. Just skipped through the broadcast recording, will listen more intently tomorrow. A different side of RF, yet so him. He makes it seem comfortable and natural to play with this group of musicians, from another part of the world. Truly a gifted artist and musician.
Thanks again for sharing, Frank! _________________ just another small town boy from northern california |
