I have heard Robben a number of times - the last show at the Independent for the recording of Soul on Ten - Tos, Travis & Robben with an occasional cut from Neil. In my opinion, less is more. I have always enjoyed Robben as the front man and actually he's perfected his singing over the years. I suspect ... he might not tour as much ... it's just too difficult to put schedules together. This I will miss. In Northern CA we had the luxury of hearing him a lot. |

Thanx for the kind words, all.
I don't plan on going anywhere soon, so I'll still be popping in and out and ocassionally posting when I have something to say.
And don't worry about seeing Robben, from what he told me there are still plenty of international plans worked into his future gigs. _________________ B C-ing U!

Er... OK... How exactly can we change the fates by getting Robben's planned work with Michael McDonald, Bill Evans and Larry Carlton to end up on the same album? Because that's band I'd KILL to see! I thought I was excited about the Ford/Landau/Haslip/Novak line-up, but that other one would be insane!
Btw, Daved, regarding this...

...does this mean you have any contact with Jimmy Herring? If so, could you let him know that a number of us over here are still hanging out for a UK tour date. Just the one will do. We're not asking much. _________________ I first started to play guitar 35 years ago... Trouble is, I had 20 years off in the middle. |

+1 for Jimmy Herring - 'Lifeboat' is one of my fave albums of this year! |

First met Jimmy in 2000 during the middle of the Phil Lesh & Friends tour when he filled in for Robben during a week that Robben couldn't be there. We've run into each other regularly ever since.
I'll mention you're request next time he and I cross paths, possibly in March if he comes to sit in one evening with the ABB in NYC. _________________ B C-ing U!
