...but I saw Jeff Beck and B.B. King Friday night..WOOOOHOOOO Jeff was smokin'. I don't think I have seen him play like that in years..Tony Hymas, Terry Bozzio (Guitar shop) with a drum set the size of Texas. Every song was one giant solo after another. ROCKIN' good time. Tony Hymas is f#$&ing amazing! (Forgive me Robben, you know you are the only one...)
And B.B. was in fine form; his voice sounded as strong as ever (he's 77 years old, saying that he's gonna do this until he dies!) He puts on one hell of a great show, and seemed to be enjoying the whole thing. Seventh row, dead center, and WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Uh, is it okay to speak of Jeff Beck and others here, Kirk? If I am out of line, feel free to delete me...well, not me, but my message.

Friday night: Robben; Saturday afternoon: Robben; Sunday night: Robben. This is going to be a grrrrrrrrrrreat weekend, with lots of Rrrrrrobben!
(Oh, and Kirk, you are in for a tasty treat with the B.B. King/Jeff Beck concert...prepare to be blown away! Jeff's fingers are as nimble as they have ever been, and the audience adored them!) My only criticism (a small one at that) is that I wish B.B. had brought Jeff back out for an encore at the end. I will be curious to know if they do that at any of the gigs. Jeff set the house on fire with an encore of "People Get Ready" that was better than I had ever heard before. You know I never make note of set lists, but he did Nadia, Pork Pie Hat, Freeway Jam, and so many more. OUTSTANDING! ENJOY!

I've been musicfesting all summer and I've seen some great YOUNG talents ... if any of these kids are on tour in your neighborhoods, check them out -- they are the next generation of "Children of the Blues."
David Jacobs-Strain
JD Simo
Tony Furtado
Eric Steckel (I think he's 11 years old)
I've also seen great performances this summer by:
Paul Rishell & Annie Raines
Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Double Trouble
James Montgomery Band
Elizabeth, enjoy your Robbenfest !!! |

I just caught this show in Denver last night!
Beck is so cool!...still! He is still a major force with a guitar in his hands. He is one of the most original players I have ever heard. His use of fingers and whammy bar just amazing!...and his slide playing is out of this world!
BB the legend was great too! At 77 he is still tearing up the Blues. He is such a great entertainer.
I brought my 17 year old guitar slinging son to see these legends. He's in the basement now in the woodshed. I don't think I will see him for a while!
Like father like son! JB and BB had the same effect on me when I was 17!
We have to pass this music on to the next generation! Keep the music alive! _________________ www.hendersounds.com
