Mayer,

I was thinking "Live Adventures". The old Twin on 10. I don't know if you'll get this kind of dynamic response with a DR up on seven and a half. You probably will get some compression and break up from the output. One of the great things about Andy's preamp, is that it doesn't compress unless you get really crazy with the gain. Tell him that you are after the Super Session sound and he can voice the amp accordingly. If anyone (at least anyone who isn't Robben or Larry can get hold of) can do it, Andy can.

BTW, I heard that there is a new issue of some Fillmore East adventures where Mike is straighter and plays his keester off. Anyone heard it?

Got a chance to play though a friends vintage Vibrolux Reverb a couple of weeks ago, which breaks up like crazy by itself. Plugged my Tele in, plucked a couple of notes and thought OMG, turned to the band and said "gentle rumba in Bb" Maryann. Had to go there. It was so much fun. Not singing sustain like I'm used to. But boy did it respond. After listening to Robben last week, I'm even more into less gain. Want to hear the vowels come out.

Has anyone tried the copy of the Celestion 65 that WeberVST makes? I'm looking for just the right speaker to fill a 1x12 combo that my nephew built for me. It's a loud 40watts and is sort of a chimey clean tone with a gain boost and a mid boost for overdriving. I've got a Celestion G1280 Classic Lead in there now and it sounds pretty good but I think it could be better. Would like smoother highs (but not rolled off) and more complex mids. Has anyone tried...
Jensen C12K
Eminence Delta Pro 12 (Daved???)
Celestion Vintage 30 etc.
The cab is open back and pretty small. There's a picture of it on his site in the Project/Mods section. Can't miss it, it's RED.
