I had a great time at Wanee. There was so much music ! I loved The Black Keys, Widespread Panic, Dr. John, Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, all the bands that included Cody and Luther Dickinson. The Allman Brothers Jam on Saturday night was superb! It included Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, John Bell, Dave Schools, and Johnny Winter. A guitar slamdown. I put together a slideshow of my photos from the weekend. Click on the link or the photo of Dr. John to see my photos.

Great photos Andrea, thanks! I don't think I've ever seen Dr. John play guitar before. Looks like a great show. Where was that again?

The festival was in Live Oak, half way between Gainesville and Tallhassee, FLA., at the Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park and Campground.

This was the second time I've seen Dr. John play guitar. I saw him in December at the Highline Ballroom in New York City, and he played one or two songs on the guitar at that show as well.

I read that Dr. John started out as a guitar player. His left ring finger was injured by a gunshot during an altercation at a gig in Jacksonville, FL. He was defending his bandmate and long-time friend, Ronnie Barron. After that, he concentrated on bass guitar until making piano and organ his main instruments.

I saw Dr. John a few times in the past, and he did not play guitar at those shows. It's great to see him playing the guitar in concert again. After Dr. John's set at Wanee, someone on the stage crew gave me his handwritten set list. I was so surprised I didn't even say "thank you" to the guy -- but I am grateful! I've always loved Dr. John's voice and his music, and the set list is a cool momento of the show! Very Happy
