Got an email from the Schofield peeps that Matt's U.S tour will be in June!
"Plans for Matt's debut tour of the USA are progressing well. At the present time, Matt is scheduled to start in the second week of June in Northern California and route south to Texas. Leg 2 has him in Canada and the North east of the US. Leg 3 should see him heading into the heartlands of the USA before routing south again. Dates will start posting on Matt's web site later this month.
June is also scheduled for a Hal Leonard DVD release featuring Matt, which marks the first time this iconic American publisher has featured a British guitarist. Matt joins such well-known American guitarists as Joe Bonamassa, Budddy Guy, Robben Ford and Eric Johnson."
Woo hoo! Can't wait to see him live! _________________ "Somebody's got to make some music around here." - Robben Ford |

Yes, that's great news. I'll be on the lookout for Matt's tour this summer. Who are his "peeps" and how do I become one? _________________ Travelling by train of thought |

I was watching some youtube videos of Matt Schofield today and I liked this one a lot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX1IuDVs7sw
It has an interesting bass solo at the beginning, a style almost like a guitar solo.
I was hoping to see one of his shows this summer, but I don't think he's scheduled to play anywhere I'll be. _________________ Travelling by train of thought |

Yeah, that video was from the Ribs and Blues festival in Raalte the Netherlands (20 km from were I live and of course I was there). Matt was in a good shape. Interesting interview on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xY190XHJTJU |

Damn...I'd never heard Matt's playing before, but his phrasing is very impressive! And that's easily one of the best blues tones I've ever heard out of a Strat! _________________ "Music is the only thing that you can share with a million million people and you don't lose, you gain. Saw the 8:30 Biscuits and Blues show. Outstanding!
A nice surprise was our own Phil Benson sitting in on a tune... |

Sorry for the naked and thoroughly brazen advertising, but I'm the promoter of the gig...
If I've broken any forum rules, just let me know and I'll delete the post. _________________ I first started to play guitar 35 years ago... Trouble is, I had 20 years off in the middle. |

Great show by the Matt Schofield Trio tonight in Boston with Professor Tomo Fujito (Berklee Music) playing a few tunes. Definitely a must see... _________________ Soul on Eleven |

I bought the new album after the show and got through the first 8 tracks on the drive home. Very good first listen. I strongly suspect it's one of those albums that "grows on you". Plus, I always enjoy listening to the MST on long drives... _________________ Soul on Eleven |

Glad to hear that the new album is sounding good, Johnny. Albums tend to grow on me like that in general and I'm really looking forward to this new one from Matt. _________________ "Somebody's got to make some music around here." - Robben Ford |
