Hey to all you folks in Michigan and Northern Ohio:

I am in the process of putting something cool together. I wanted to see who would be interested in attending a guitar clinic with Larry Carlton in SE Michigan (Detroit area). I can fill you as details come together, but as of now, it looks like it might be as early as the end of May. Some of you might have been to previous clinics I've done with with Robben Ford and Jon Herington -- these are VERY cool!

Well, it's official. the Larry Carlton Master class is on. Here’s the quick overview:

Four-time Grammy winner, Larry Carlton established himself from his first recording, A Little Help From My Friends. His studio credits include musicians and groups like Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Bland, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and literally dozens of others. He went on to perform with the Crusaders and then with the multi platinum jazz super group Fourplay. With 30 albums to his credit and having performed on over 100 albums that have gone Gold or Platinum, Larry Carlton has set a standard for artistry that spans three decades.

On May 31st, Larry will share his exceptional talent and insights in a Guitar Master Class. In the class, Larry will discuss and demonstrate his approach to guitar and how to make a meaningful impact as a musician. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn from one of the world’s greatest guitarists!

The purpose of the Master Class is not only to learn from a world-class musician, but also to raise money for international relief efforts. Community Christian Church (“CCC”) is actively engaged in efforts to help people enduring significant hardships resulting from natural disasters or impoverished living conditions. Examples of activities include construction projects for a much needed pharmacy in Haiti and an orphanage in India. Both these projects will have a significant impact on the lives of children who would otherwise be left without adequate food, shelter, education or medical attention. All net proceeds from the Master Class will go to CCC’s relief activities.

If learning from one of the world’s greatest guitarists and supporting a worthy charity were not enough, there’s one more great reason to attend. As part of the admission fee, all paid attendees will enter a drawing to win a GDS 100W guitar amplifier head. This specially designed, hand-wired amp was inspired by the classic Dumble guitar amplifiers of the early 80s. The amp is being donated from Jack DiFranco’s personal collection and comes with a Rodenberg Flexloop tube-buffered effects loop. New, these items cost over $4,500!

The event will take place on May 31st at 7:30 pm and will be held at Community Christian Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The cost of the event is $60 per person and includes admission to the Master Class plus a ticket for the GDS 100W amp drawing. Advance purchase and registration is required.
