New Soul Cowboys by Anthony Gomes, David Karns & Peter Lang.
Listed as "Country", I've passed over this album for two years now because, frankly, I cannot stand to listen to Country & Western music. But, I've been listening to and enjoying Anthony Gomes' solo/band stuff for several years. Anyway, I finally listened to clips of New Soul Cowboys and was amazed at the hard edge to it. Still somewhat skeptical, I took a chance. And, what a pleasant surprise! Not one bit of that Country twang that I dislike. More like bad ass rock with a tough-guy cowboy flair! Even the couple slow ballad-type songs weren't Countryish. Can't wait to run some errands today so I can blast this baby some more!
BTW, Anthony Gomes is worth checking out- a very talented artist who can play the hell out of his guitar. I once read where, during a small club gig some jackwagon was yelling at him that he can't play for shit. Annoyed, Gomes went over to the guy's table and laid down a screaming solo that would've made Jimi take notice... :-) _________________ Soul on Eleven |

Wanted to hear Nowhere Man after watching the series finale of Mad Men... So Rubber Soul was in the car's CD player. Oh, and yeah, I've still got one! |
