Just saw on French satellite TV a documentary about Miles Davis alumni (this thread is named after the program) , this specific part was focused on Robben Ford (after parts about Scofield, Stern, Foley, Bob Berg etc...) .
Quite interesting to see : Robben describes how he began playing music with his family, his stints with Joni Mitchell, George Harrison, playng with Bob Dylan, there are also a lot of cool pics (as well as a young Robben getting married ), his influences (Mike Bloomfield of course), his love for jazz, and of course how he came to play for Miles, his relationship with him, and how much he influenced everything he did.
At one point he talks about the 60's, how fun an era it was, and he mentions the Grateful Dead, and how he bad he thought those guys were (except Jerry Garcia).
There is some cool video footage, some neve before seen footage of Robben with Larry Carlton in Paris playing some acoustic instrumental and killing it...
Quite interesting really. |

Hi Pierre,
hope all is well with you!
Wow, sounded like a cool TV doc. Is it available through the net; YouTube perhaps?
Cheers,

I don't think so...but I'll try to find a way to make it available. |

I downloaded on TDD or Dime-really enjoyable video-was a little shocked about the GD members comments-especially since Robben was once a "Friend" and Phil was providing his paycheck.... |
