Robben Ford Music announced on Facebook yesterday his new Original Composition Series:

In these video lessons Robben presents his own songs, discussing their origins and demonstrating how they're played on the guitar so you'll know exactly the correct chord voicing. Complete with pdf charts and interactive notations, these lessons will enhance your playing with a deeper understanding of your own musical potential.

There will be one new release in each of the next 4 months-- Thoughtless, Lateral Climb, Soft In Black Jeans, and Don't Worry About Me--which will allow ample time to learn one song before moving on to the next!

Says Robben: I'm happy to invite you to view The Original Composition Series (TOCS). I will focus on songwriting so there will be no emphasis on soloing. But learning chords, and how to move around the guitar, precedes soloing, as I see it. So, no song, no solo, right?!

I bought the first one ($9.99) and although I've spent just 5 minutes with this 22 minute video I can already tell it's going to be great. A full chart is provided and he's going through the song chord by chord talking in detail about all the interesting voicings. I think I'm really going to like this series.

I bought it yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Lots of chords, great composition.
My gratitude to Robben for sharing so much. For me this is a gift.

Hi,

this is a great concept, and many thanks to Robben for sharing.

I recently picked up the "Thoughtless" score when I attended the UK clinic. Its a great track. I am wondering, do you actually get the chord fingerings with this, or is it simply the chord voicings as per what I already have?

DD, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by voicings vs. fingerings. You get the chart of all the chords that includes guitar tab. Does that help?

I just signed up for it last night. It's a great lesson. I downloaded the PDF so I can print it out and look at it while the lesson is going on. That helps me with some of the fingerings Robben is using and I can pause the video while I start getting the fingerings into muscle memory.

Got an email this morning saying that Lateral Climb is coming out 2 weeks early!

I was working though Thoughtless last night. Robben says several times on the video that's it's really a 12 bar blues. I am very comfortable with a 12 bar, but I couldn't get the feel. Than I counted the measures and saw it's not 12 bars - it's 14. Then I realized Robben didn't mean it quite that literally. He meant that the underlying chords are the same as a 12 bar.
I've had pretty good luck with the piece. That one F# chord gives me trouble. The one that the tab shows as 2-4-4-2-0-0. That's a stretch.
