Dear Dave, I'm not a soundwhizz! The only thing i want is to have a nice chorus/delay sound for ballads, a phat clean sound for funky stuff and a awsome leadsound!!!
I use a fender strat and i still have the standard single coil pickups! Do i have to put a humbucker at the back because i think that's the cause of the trouble that i have with high and low sounds.
At the moment i'm using a mesa boogie (v-twin) preamp, intellifex (limited edition, silver coloured) effectsprocessor and the boogie 2:ninety power amp! For cabinets i use 2 marshall speakers ( the 1936 type) Oh and for a crunchy sound i use the ibanez "tube screamer"! Is this a right combination!?! I still don't have the right sound!! And i'm fed up! Now i'm thinking about to go "back to basic" so just a simple combo and a few pedals! What's your advice!?!

Thanks!

Hi E.A.J.T.

Just an idea:

1: Sell everything exept the Strat and the Tube Screamer
2: Buy an old blackface Twin Reverb and a Banzai Fireball II
3: Enjoy

Lefty, what's the idea behind this suggestion?

The Strat becomes "vintage" by the time he gets his Banzai Fireball delivered?

Maybe by the time the Banzai gets there, he's learned to get good tone from the TS9 and the Fireball only fattens things up? (where's the emoticon for condesending clown with foot in mouth?)

Actually, I got a note from Olaf saying that all the backorders (including mine) would be shipped by the 1st. I'm "patiently" watching the doorstep. Let you guys know when I get it.

That's the idea!!

And, I'm sorry guys. I forgot about the delivery issues for the Banzai. In Holland they are still available!

eajt, IMO you've got a nice rig- the 2:ninety is a great power amp- clean, powerful, but the grind is there if you need it. The Intellifex is also a good piece, transparent with lower noise levels and better quality sounds than most digital gear- a poor man's 2290 (use it for delay- ignore all the other BS). Hang on to that stuff.

I would lean towards changing out the v-twin, although it's got a great clean channel. You should be able to get a Twin sound out of it, but the overdrive side is recto- pure shred if you crank it. Definitely not the blues.

Or you could always get a Blackface reverb so you're limited to just one sound (oooh, did I say that?). Wink

You can buy it here: http://www.haarguitars.nl/

And yes I have one. I like it a lot but it's kinda loud. So it needs precise adjustment.
