|
|
It seems some users are having problems with the chat application. Daved included...Obviously this is unacceptable.
Can you guys please give me some feedback on the application?
Is it working for you?
If not, what is not working:
Please describe what's happening?
Please provide information:
What ISP are you using?
What OS and version?
What Browser?
The objective here is to get a stable chat application so we can get Robben for a live chat. In a recent email from Daved, Robben is interested in doing this. But without a bug free chat application, I am reluctant to give the green light to Daved. I wouldn't want Robben to have a less than perfect technical experience.
I have been doing some research lately on chat applications. All the php applications seem to have the same screen refreshing issues. The most robust chat applications seem to be the java applications. For example click here to see a demo: http://www.123flashchat.com/demo.html
The problem is my hosting account, for performance reasons, does not allow me to run java servers. So that leaves two solution options. 1> go to a dedicated server hosting account, or 2> go to a hosted chat solution. Unfortunately, both require incremental dollars with #1 requiring a lot of work and time on my end.
For example, the cost of the hosted solution for the java app above is $30 per month....other hosted apps are in the $15 to $30 per month range. Just to put that pricing in perspective I pay $15 month now for hosting the Robben forum, two other forums and my web site.
That's where we are. So the question is, is it worth the added cost to add rock solid full featured chat functionality that would enable live chatting with members, Daved and live chat events with Robben. AND.... would you the members be willing to help with the cost of this? _________________ www.hendersounds.com

Captain,
I just visited the chatroom, and it's working fine from here.
I'd thought you wanted to know. |

Works fine for me Captain!
But what happens if, let's say, 100 people start to chat??
Perhaps we can do a major test before we let the Master join??

Yep,
Why don't we specify a date/time to have a
"volume-test".

Dave
If you haven't already, why don't you open a paypal account & ask for donations ??
(The guy who produces euPod Volumeboost works this way).

Sure I can help. You do not need to pen a Paypal account for donations, donations through Payal can be made directly through email adresses only. |
