That's quite possible... actually about 45 minutes of that show have been aired a few months ago on Mezzo, a satellite TV channel specializing in jazz and classical music. And those 45 minutes were very good, Robben and Larry are in great form, in an unusual setting. |

I got to hear Robben play what I guess was an early version of Charley Patton's Birdnest Bound in August, but I don't know how much differently he played when recording the new record. I had to order the CD and LP, I guess I'll be giving away a free poster if someone wants it, come February! _________________ "Music is the only thing that you can share with a million million people and you don't lose, you gain. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned here yet, but this video for the new album is pretty cool...

There was a review of the album in the lastest Guitarist (UK) magazine, rather good. Can't wait to hear it. |

From the little bit that I've heard, this is going to be a great CD. I'm really liking the new direction.

Robben Ford has released a...single? Interesting, I don't think I've ever heard of him doing this before. That being said it's a great tune, and I've got high hopes for this album! You can hear a shadow of Mr. Dylan's unique vocal stylings in Robben's version of this tune, which is pretty cool, but something tells me the link above is an edited version of the song. At 3:22 it seems a little short! _________________ "Music is the only thing that you can share with a million million people and you don't lose, you gain. There is a second song posted on the Sound Cloud if you click the Mascot Label Group label or text. The song is "Everything I Do (Gonna Be Funky)". It's pretty cool. |

I heard "Fool's Paradise" this morning on Sirius Blues from the new CD, and I got email confirmation that my copy is on its way. Sirius has named the new single a "pick to click". That's means we should be hearing it frequently. Any time Robben is being played over the air it's a good thing!

Got my copy in the mail today. For some reason the CD didn't come today as well, so the vinyl will have to do for now _________________ "Music is the only thing that you can share with a million million people and you don't lose, you gain. I got my CD. This is really different and really good. The song choices are excellent. Robben's playing is laid back and has a lot of space - more than usual. I particularly like the song "Traveler's Waltz" that was co-written by Ann (Kerry Ford) and Michael McDonald. That's a great song. The trombone is a fantastic addition on this CD and you don't hear trombone as a solo instrument very much any more. I like it very much. In the interest of full disclosure - I played trombone years ago in the high school band. Robben graciously shares the solo opportunities with the other instruments and it really makes for a great CD. There is a lot of competition for this title, but I think this has got to be one of Robben's best efforts. I've been one of the people that really wished for a another version of the Blue Line, and I love this CD; even though it is definitely not that remake. It's different, it's a new sound for Robben, and it's great.

Got my CD yesterday.
I could only give it one listen, but so far I like it, it's quite relaxed, pleasant to listen too. Not a landmark recording in his career, but still a strong release. |
