I need something I can play inside, around the clock without gettin clubbed in the head with a 50 year old frying pan and waking up the next morning with my head sewn to the carpet.

Im checkin out a lot of these Blues Jrs which I may end up with, but Im curious about the amp builders out there these days that have reproduced the Dumble, if any of them have made somewhere in the neighborhood of a 15w combo. Id look them up but I dont know who they are. Carol Ann I think is the only one I can think of but the HS-2 is just an amp. Any ideas?

15W and Dumble type ? None I can think of at the moment...
Fuchs has its ODS in 30W version though.
Ceriatone was supposed to release some lunchbox sized, low wattage versions of its OTS amp, but nothing yet.
Your best bet would be to get a good clean amp which works well with pedals and get a Zendrive, or a Quinn HBS, Ethos overdrive, Dumkudo...

I love my Blues Jr. I've had it for years. A Fender Princeton would also be a good choice. I believe it is a 12 watt combo.

Yea, I think Blues Jr is the way Im goin. As I look around, Fender seems to have cornered the market for that price range vs the quality.

Vintage Sound Amplifiers (www.vintagesoundamps.com) also makes an excellent product and they can customize the amp to your taste, but the price is much higher than a Fender.

I've used a Blues Jr. since 96 and it's still going strong.
I've read alot about mods for it but have not made any changes. I don't know if the mods help to 'dumblize' the sound, but you might check it out.
I used to have a link for one, but lost it. I'm sure you can google it.

BTW, did anyone see the Dumble sold on eBay this week? Somewhere around $56,000. There you go!

I use a Blues Junior to rehearse as the Wienbrock I own is too heavy to get up two flights of stairs :-/

I can get a reasonably Dumblesque tone with a Wampler Ecstasy in front of it, albeit at lower volume levels :-)

Did the mods on the BJ but didn't rate them so undone them all.

I've never modded mine, either. I didn't think it needed it. My Blues Jr. was my gigging amp for several years. I miked it and let the PA do the heavy lifting. It's my backup now, and my main amp is a '66 Deluxe Reverb (22 watts).

It's a great amp, but it does take a lot of maintenance. I have a good tech that I take it in to about once a year and let him go through it.

I've had this same issue on stage with not being able to turn up a Marshall 100 watt head where it finds that sweet spot. Bought a Peavey Delta Blues and it's only 30 watts. It was still too much, but the dirty side sounded better than my Blues Jr. which was still too loud for smaller rooms unless you put a pedal in front of it.
Just picked up a Blackstar Club 20 and it handles most indoor venues and sounds wonderful halfway up! Put a mic on it and feed it back through the monitors for bigger rooms. Even my Marshall can get lost on a big outdoor stage as the 4 12's are so directional. I picked up a 2 12" open back Blackstar cabinet with Celestions and I'm pretty happy so far!
