At the Sunday, March 3 Yoshi's show in Oakland, Robben mentioned that he was no longer involved in the Renegade Creation band. He said cryptically that there would be "film at 11". So far I haven't heard any word on this from anywhere else. Michael Landau's website is announcing a new band project he is launching, so I guess it's for real. Anyone know the detail on this?
Personally I like Robben's blues focused groups better, and the current touring lineup is fantastic, so I'm not exactly grieving the passing of RC. Just would like to know the scoop.
Anyone?

Well, that was fun while it lasted.
I'm not too surprised. At this point in RFs career, I would not expect any collaboration to last too long.

I'm glad RC came along, as it introduced me to the great playing of Mike Landau. I'll be watching out for him. I know he's a veteran, but as I said before, I don't get out much.

I wasn't crazy about RC either. I thought that the rockier side did not fit Robben's style very well, and some of the song were not really strong, kind of sounded like loose blues-rock jams.
But yet it was fun to see Robben and Landau play together.

And what the hell does "film at 11" means ?

"film at 11" is a phrase used to promote late local news shows on American TV. The promo would appear early in the evening to entice viewers to watch. Something like,
"Cat stuck in a tree. Film at 11."
In other words, Robben was implying that we would be hearing about it later.

I loved RC. I think its a real shame. Oh well, listening to Robben and the Ford Blues band live in concert from Budapest 2005 on YT. Awesome!!

Robben has demonstrated time and time again that he's going to do what he wants to do. I mean, who goes out as a basically three piece band and a solo trombone? He's an artist and he's going to create art.
