Well, after years of playing mainly strats and a few LP's, I finally bought a tele. I think RF deserves some credit for the sale too. I was not looking, but I picked up a 52 that looked a lot like the man's tele, and I'll be whipped if it doesn't have just the right tone....

I left a strat I have had since 90 there on consignment. I thought I would struggle to leave it, but I was out of the parking lot before it really dawned on me.

This tone thing is really a problem...(:

I bought a cheap tele (an "Ash tele", FSR for Guitar Center, I believe) a few years ago. I was underwhelmed. It had a high fret (15 - which is particularly annoying) and pretty mediocre pickups. Heavy as hell too.

Then I got the fret fixed, and installed a Duncan Broadcaster pickup in the bridge. Holy tone Batman! If only it had a flatter radius (I like 12", not the 9-1/2" modern teles come with) it'd be perfect. As it is, it gets plenty of playing time.

And, when I finally decided to get a custom guitar built recently, I went with a tele from Bill Crook. Voodoo Broadcaster bridge pickup and firebird neck pickup. Green and silver paisley.

Gotta wait another 10 months for it though.... Evil or Very Mad

I would love to see that color....I had a couple of 2013 Firebird pick ups sitting that ended up selling on eBay. Great pickups to reuse.

Man, that is sweet. Nice wood in the neck too. I am digging these round radius-ed fretboards a bunch. That is where it seems to really bring out something different in my hands.

I don't know if I could wait months!!! (:
