I would love to hear a Robben and Larry collaboration CD. I think live would be the best setting! Cool

I've seen people ask Robben about this several times and he always gets a funny look on his face and either dodges the question or says no outright. I believe Robben has the upmost respect for Larry, but for some reason doesn't seem to want to get involved in a collaboration of similar styles. When asked about who he would like to collaborate with, he comes back with folks who are very different, like Bill Frisell or Eric Johnson. I'm not sure what the issue with Larry is, other than maybe people keep bringing it up and he doesn't want to go there.

I would agree that if it were to happen, a loose, live setting would probably work better than some contrived "super session".

Robben has already recorded with Bill Frisell, on Jerry Granelli's cd's. Eric Johnson actually would be interesting, and their is a connection through Roscoe Beck who has played extensively with both. BTW, there is a song on Jennifer Warnes' "Famous Blue Raincoat" that features Robben playing rhythm guitar behind Stevie Ray Vaughn's solo. That was produced by Roscoe Beck. (I doubt Robben and Stevie were even in the studio together at the same time, but I would be interested to know whether they ever jammed together.)

Guitars - R - Us:
What is the name of the tune from Famous Blue Raincoat on which both SRV and Robben play?

Thanks!

Grant

I believe the cut they both play on together is "First We Take Manhattan."
