Hi Daved,

Last night they finally broadcast the session 'you' recorded last November - and excellent it was Smile - however, I thought you guys recorded 4 songs, but only 3 were broadcast on the show, any ideas why?

Well, I missed it!

The songs recorded at the session were:

Keep on runnin
Over my head
Cannonball Shuffle
Badge

Which ones were played on the show?

Cheers,
Rob.

Keep On Running
Cannonball Shuffle
Over My Head

These 3, I believe, I have got a good recording of the show on MD, so thats a nice 'souvenir', but it would have been really good if they had broadcast the whole set !

Sorry, I don't really know. We did record the four songs and, considering they only aired 3 songs, one would have thought there'd have been time for some sort of interview or commentary. Also, since my understanding is that "Badge" was the 'single' released in Europe and the UK, I would have thought they'd have been most sure to air that song out of the four.

Anyway, those BBC recordings become BBC property to utilize however they choose. We recorded the music, they put the show together. We had nothing to do with the show end of the deal.

Daved,

Did 'you' (Concord record company) actually release Badge as a single, and if so is it commercially available to buy, and where can I get hold of it ?

I have a couple of older Robben singles - Start it Up etc from several years ago, but I have never 'seen' any from his more recent albums in the UK ?

Any info would be appreciated Smile

On a related, further note (this may possibly turn into a new topic)

Does Robben ever write/record B-Sides specifically for any of his CD Single releases ? - lots of bands often release fantastic tunes as B-Sides that their fans appreciate, but maybe were not a good 'fit' for the Album release that they were possibly written/recorded for.

A, B-Sides/Unreleased song CD would be a great idea - a bit like Eric Johnson did with his recent Internet release 'Souvenir' which was a collection of songs written over the years, re-recorded and released as a 'treat' for the hardcore fanbase.

Robben must have loads of songs/ideas knocking about that never saw the light of commercial exposure - try and get him to consider an album of this nature please Smile

Good Idea,
Rob.

That is a sin! Moonchild is one of Robben's greatest songs......

The fusion head in me wants to have a recording of "The Chief". I understand that this has been tried in a couple of different sessions but never "fit" a release. Having heard various folks play it with Robben live, my vote for a release would be Ford, Brechtlein, Dove, Babbco if it exists.

Robben told us at a clinic last year that his previous label won't let him release it. If I remember correctly, it was recorded and then things broke down so who knows if it will ever see the light of day.
