well, in my opinion, the 'original' broadcast sounded fine, possibly a little bit thin, however not enough to spoil the performance, however if you are listening over the web with a 'low xx kbs' level eg less than 65 then it will sound poor anyway.
the only good thing about this facility is that you can get to hear a show from another country/region via the net
It sounded REaLLY fine . Yes indeed. With a feeling of "off the board ".
I must say that we have these old amplified Sony Mini speakers originally for CD players and they sound REALLY GREAT on the computer.

No problem, we get very little Robben on UK radio, and to my knowledge nothing on TV ever!, so it doesnt hurt to remind people that when he does appear we WANT MORE !!

I don't know all the reasons, but shows recorded live for radio & TV are notorious for their bad quality. Usually, these sessions can be a tour sound engineer's nightmare, as they are rarely allowed to actually operate the sound board, but are usually allowed to hang around and 'advise', if they want to.
This means you, as the listener, are at the mercy of a in-house engineer who often has never even heard of the artist he is mixing, much less have any familiarity with what the artist does or is supposed to sound like.

Oops! Right your are, Rob. We didn't even get to Birmingham this time around, did we?
Actually, as with any city in the world, some places stick in your head and some places take a few visits. I remember Manchester clearly. Though it rained, I had a lovely Thai dinner on my "day off" (the day we recorded at BBC), a delightful Indian meal the afternoon of show, and bought several CDs, the Wallace & Grommit Playstation game, and a DVD of "League Of Gentlemen's" first season, in some shops downtown.
