How is Robben feeling? Will our friends in Chicago be enjoying his show in their city tonight?

Just got back from the show and I must say that I enjoyed the show a bunch! I been playin guitar for 15+ yrs and have been a fan of Robben Ford since i was 15 ish. (33 ys old fart now) I was very excited to see Robben play live and even better 3 blocks from my home. Martyr's in Chicago is a kinda small venue and that made this even better. Robbens band was great. Killer sax , bass and drummer ( female even).
Soooo, all who have tickets to see this tour should expect a great time. I am still smilin thinkin bout it hehe. Thanks Robben for playin in Chicago , I hope to see you play again.!!!

I saw Robben play in Portland a few weeks ago. The sax player was not with him, just drums and bass. WOW.
Hilary Jones kicks ass on those drums, Dwayne Pate was the best, as always, and Robben - there are no words, there was only the smile on my face (lasted all week).

I was at the Chicago show on Saturday. This was the third time I've seen Robben and I have enjoyed it every time. I really loved hearing the new material. The band dynamics are always fun to watch. Everyone really seemed to be enjoying themselves on stage. I hate it when the band makes it look like work. Everyone was smiling and having a good time. Robben seemed to have some problems with the monitors, but I certainly couldn't tell from where I was sitting.

Martyr's is another story. Cool little club, but I cannot stress "little" enough. I don't understand how Robben can sell out a 450+ seat theater in October, but then he gets booked into a 200 person club in Feb. There are a lot of phenomenal places to see a band in Chicago and the suburbs, but he ends up there. I guess I don't understand booking sometimes. This places is a little smoky bar with almost no seating. Robben's crowd are not teenagers. I'll bet the average age was around 40 for the audience. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd like a club or theatre with seating.

It will be nice when the Milwaukee show is rescheduled to have another opportunity to see Robben on this tour.

I'm embarressed to say.....but I got sick at Robben's show. (I am one of those WELL over 40 fans, over 50!) Martyrs was OK, but I agree, I am not used to standing for so long. The band was great, but I had spent the day at the art museum, the lake, etc., etc., and missed dinner. I thought I could get pizza at martyrs, but it was so crowded and standing room only. I enjoyed half of the show, and was feeling really good, but during "help the poor," I started to black out, and had to go outside. I was SO>>>>>disappointed to miss the rest of the show. I'm sure people thought I was a drunk on the sidewalk, ha ha.......but truth was my blood pressure just dropped so low I got sick. Tomorrow night in Detroit I'll be well fed before I go, cuz I have a feeling it will be a similar venue.

I was at the Chicago show Saturday.He has been a great player for so long,but it seems like last night,he was the best I have ever seen him.His soloing has developed to such a high level.His comping behind any soloist(Bob Malach mostly last night)is always tasteful and fresh sounding.
He gets the best sound from a Tele(my favorite is both pickups).Gets a great sound from a Strat although he didn't have one with him.Every time I go to an open mic and see almost every player using a Strat they are getting such small thin sounds.I sometimes want to say"hey,I got two words for you:Robben Ford".Anyway,I also was hoping to see that great all gold early 50's Les Paul.I have only seen him use once.I really need one of those.Robben is such an inspiration.I guess tomorrow I'll start working on that 7th degree of the melodic minor scale again.I need to do that worse than I need an all gold Les Paul with p-90s.Dan

Come on, Jason! 33 and you think you're an old fart? I'm a spring chicken at 48 and have been following Robben around since I was 21. You have a long way to go til you're an old fart.

Jason, advice from another spring chicken - start exercising, drink more water, and listen to lots and lots and lots of Robben Ford music - you'll start feeling younger in no time. And since Robben is way too far east for me, I'm going to see Mark Ford play at the Harmonica Summit tonight in Portland. Saw him play with Robben at Mt Baker Blues Fest in August, and am really looking forward to this show. Also on the bill are local favorites Paul deLay and Bill Rhoades, and R.J. Mischo (Fremont CA, Minneapolis MN). Each are playing with the all-star house band including Mike Osborn and Alan Hager on guitars, Tom Szell on bass and Johnny Moore on drums.
