Having covered "Keep on running" & "Badge" etc, I wondered if Robben has ever heard, or listened to some early "Free" material, & thought of covering something of theirs?
Not the overly commercial & frequently released "All right now", but something like"I'm a mover" ,"Ride on pony" , "Walk in my shadow", or "I'll be creeping".
I think he would / could take them in & spit them out totally reworked for 2004.
Question May I suggest the excellent "Songs of yesterday" boxed set for inspiration.

Daved,
Funny you should mention 'the UNFORGIVEN' I'm a very small collector/dealer and came across that lp recently.Had never heard of them but the 'And Without these People' credits was an interesting list.
You said you were looking for it on cd but if you love it that much and are in need of a excellent copy on vinyl ,i'd be happy to send it to you.
In the meantime i'll give it a spin,
J

Thanx, J, I appreciate the offer, but I already have it in excellent shape on vinyl. I just wish it would get released in CD format so I could take it with me on the road.... especially if it came with bonus trax!

For those who may be interested, The Unforgiven's one album has recently been officially released in CD format... finally! Yaaaayyyy!!! Laughing

Available on the Almacantar label thru the official Unforgiven website, http://www.roverpack.com/.

A one-of-a-kind, L.A. area band, rising out of the shortlived "cow-punk" genre of late 80's music, writing & playing countryesque, anthem rock songs that could easily have been used as big budget western movie themes.
It was a six man "guitar army" (4 guitars, bass & drums) with a wall-of-sound (ala Phil Spectre), layered guitars, gang vocals, and full blown, powerful tunes about corrupt preachers, dying with one's boots on, hangings, indian ghost dances, running with rover packs, and closing with a splendid power instrumental of "Amazing Grace".

Yes, obviously, I like this album and highly recommend it to those adventurous music lovers looking for something a little different.

Please note that this is the ORIGINAL Unforgiven band. There are several other newer bands who have adopted the name as their own (an increasingly popular thing to do these days. Whatever happened to creativity in the modern music world? So many bands these days are copping the names of successful, but now defunct, recording bands from the past because, I guess, they just can't seem to come up with original names of their own. Sad... and extremely annoying for us "oldtimers" who are aware of what they are doing.)

I've picked up a few copies, as gifts for friends whom I know will appreciate them and for backup in my own collection (Who knows how long they will be available, so get it while you can... I 've painfully learned THAT lesson several times over, thru the years Neutral ).
