Those mystic amps may be great but I think the marketing strategies (..built by a mystic man...very very mystic...) and prices are ridiculous

James, I'm NOT in the US but i DO own a Mystic Blues amp. Mystique amps (mr Mystic AKA E.J.) makes better amps than ever. A friend has a combo with EL34 output tubes and it sounds very Marshall like BUT with that refined touch and the top end Mystique shimmer.

E.J. does amp building out of love for great tone, not to be rich. Trust me a LOT of time goes into each amp he tweaks for many hours before he's satisfied. Also the weak $ makes prices a bit steep for you guys in the US. For us a Mystic is no more expensive that Two-Rock or Bruno.

Friends who have tried MOST amps, including "the real thing", preferes Mystic, mybe it's becouse each Mystic Blues is tweaked for it's user, just as Robbens amp is tweaked for him.

cheers,

Anders

My amp has been tweaked MANY times, it's kind of an gamble becouse sometimes Mr Mystic has something new he want's to try out and we that live close serve as a testbench, and its kind of cool becouse some things he has done where great. I used to have a "clean mod" so that the clean sound was VERY close to SRV Texas Flood tone, now it has more gain and is kind of close to the Hansfull of Blues sound Very Happy .
If you don't live that close he usually wants te hear something that you play and know a few thing about guitars and touch and so on, then he ca make the reponse and tone fit you're style. Cool

hi Anders,
If it wasn't for you guys at UGG i probably wouldn't have bought my mystic.Fred gave me alot of input and everyone from your area of the world had great things to say about "The E.J."(thats what I call him). I only know of 2 other mystics in the U.S. I've talked to one of the owners.Like all of us who KNOW, he loves his amp too.My amp, as you may know is named "Susan" after Susan Tedeshi. She has the SRV - Robben mods and is covered in green suede. has he done others in suede? How many amps do you think "The EJ" has made?are they common over there? What is your amps name? have you experimented with different tubes and speakers with yours? Hows the Blue Star?I would to have a lower wattage alternative with the same sparkle.Hope all is well in your part of the world!
Peace
James P.

All well in Sweden Wink

My amp is Ruth and its a low voltage 50w with two NOS 6L6. I think it's safe to say that Alexander have made more amps than EJ. Mystics are NOT common anywhere, Finland may be the country with most Mystics.
Since the Blue Star is a non MV amp it is LOUD but of course it has that Sparkle.
I have heard a ruomor about a 4*EL34 Mystic Blues with Marshall transformers being made Shocked . A Rock'n'roller for sure.
I also have a former Mesa that EJ stripped clen, TWO preamptubes, ecc83, and 4 big 5881 in triode mode and it ROCKS. Very Happy

There are a few so so clips here:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/5/abergdahlmusic.htm
Some Mystic and Fire amp but mostly Skrydstrup since that what i play at home. The other amps are in the rehersal room and haven't had time to do so many ckips.
Since the Skrydstrup is at home i practice with some backnings recording myself. The recordings i ca stand i sometimes post. Thats the reason for all thosa Skrydstrup clips. The Skydstrup is amazing as well. I think it sounds better the way i dailed it on the last two clips - no midboost.

Cheers,

Anders

Just to get a quick idea:

If you could only keep one, which one would it be?

It's a bit like choosing between you're kids Confused

Well lets keep the Fire amp out of this since more of tweed bassman early marshall with nice sag, it can sound a bit like Robben but the FEEL is far from a *umble.

Between the Skrydstrup and The Mystic Blues:
Skrydstrup has a wider palette it's a but more of a Rock sound some Vox/Marshall flavor in the breakup. More flexible with some almost hard Rock sound i there. Also now o have dailed it difrently and got sounds VERY close to the Mystic. The Skrydstrup alsp delivers on low volume. More sustain in some ways than the Mystic

The Mystic blues, Mystic shimmer FAT clean sound and THAT tone. Will not suite all situations BUT since i live close to the daddy of the amp and can get i tweaked to perfection I would PROBABLY keep it.
One thing that is special, it never sounds bad you can hit the strings HARD. The tweak i had before NAILED the SRV sound, it can lack sustain in some settings but makes up for it in clearness and detail.

BUT ask me tomorrow and i made decide to keep the Skrydstrup instead. I'm not of much help here am I Very Happy
