Yesterday evening, listening to KFOG San Francisco, they played a new instrumental track of Robben's new CD called "Cannonball Shuffle". A true upbeat shuffle, I'm guessing it's on his vintage Tele. It had a brief sax solo in the middle and Robben stretches out a bit with his usual verve and great tone. Can't wait for the CD this fall!

See ya,

Cannonball Shuffle is a hearty, Texas-style blues instrumental dedicated to Freddie King. Robben played Cannonball Shuffle at the Bottom Line show in NYC this summer. It was wonderful !!!! Very Happy There was no sax player for that show, but John Burr really ripped-it-up on the organ.

By the way, the new cd, "Keep on Running," can be pre-ordered on the web. I'll be standing by my mailbox waiting for the postman to arrive on October 10th ! I can hardly wait that long !!!

Yes, by standard delivery (U.S.P.S.), it should arrive in my mailbox October 10th!!! I think you can get it a day, or two, earlier if you choose something other than pony express Laughing

But don't take my word for it... order one and see for yourself ! Razz

Although the release of "Keep On Running" in Holland is scheduled for the end of october, I've heared the entire CD yesterday in the car during the trip to and from the weekly rehearsal with my band. Lucky me!!!!!!!!
Our saxophone player works at the Dutch record company that represents Concord Records. He had a promotional copy in a simple sleeve. I promised him not to give a full review here. But what can I say, folks! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
It is nothing like the previous two albums! It rocks and the Baker guitar smokes all the way!! I sounds like the earlier days!
It has never been so quiet in the car during the 2x half an hour drive.
So I hope we all will have a copy soon and enjoy! (I was not able to keep this copy, not even after I begged on my knees for it!) Sad

Greetings,

Leftbender

Cannonball Shuffle really kicks. As the guys at Guitarist magazine say: "double-coil SRV with more than just five notes!"
Now does anyone out there know where I can buy, beg, borrow or steal the tab to this masterpiece?? Confused

And now we know that it's the black Baker. At least he used that on each of the west coast shows where he played this song. Sorry Pat, maybe the Stern Tele would work Wink
