spelling, yeah, but it would be werse

the lesson was an artist must use every possilble mode to create an emotional connection with the audience. In Robben's case the guitar stuff is great for a bunch of us but for others the vocals will be the connection. And so on.

Not the spelling champ

Robben is a good singer, with a voice that fits most of his material.
He sings some songs (Start it up/Rugged Road/Dont let me be misunderstood/Talk to your Daughter/etc.) better than others. Gregg Allman (in his prime) he aint. Dusty Hill (in his prime) he aint.
There are lotsa gravelly voiced vocalists out there, if that is your blues thing. There is something to be said about a pure/clean vocal approach, a novel thing in the blues, IMO.
There are other guitarists who are lead slingers and lead singers who do (or did) it better, sure:
Eric Clapton
SRV
Hendrix
Pete Townsend
Terry Kath
Pete Frampton (although he and Robben are similar in voicing)
George Harrison
Lowell George
George Benson
Gary Moore
etc.

Still...RF does his vocal thing, and he has worked alot on it.
To me, he is the complete package as is.

S.
