I can't seem to find the thread where this was discussed, but my guess for the mysterious guest artist on the new CD is Robert Cray. Anyone else have any ideas?

Pardon my ignorance, but does he sing? Also cool would be either Chris Cain or Garth Webber.

Bill,

believe it or not, Mike Landau does sing! Note quite as well as he plays guitar (actually not even close) but he does sing. He's got a live album from the Baked Potato where his credits are guitar and vocals. Not my favourite album, but there it is.

ps - many thanks for the heads up on the AM200 guitars.

Chris

I found this on Daved's site under the topic "Post-it's" :

Following Singapore, Robben will go to Japan for several shows with Jing Chi.
Band members will, of course, be:
Robben - guitar & vocals
Jimmie Haslip - bass
Vinnie Calaiuta - drums
David Goldblatt - keyboards
Mike Landau is expected to sit in during the first 4 gigs.

Robben will be using his full Dumble rig throughout the South Pacific tour along with both his Telecaster and his new Les Paul guitar.

It's one of my absolute favorite albums (2000 Live at the Bake Potato)! Landau, like Robben, is a master of tone, dynamics, touch and taste. He's another one of those players that just touches your soul with their intensity...like Robben, or Miles, or Hendrix....

He has been singing for a long time. He sang with the Raging Honkies, Burning Water and on his solo stuff. I kinda like his voice! His guitar playing is unbelievable!

Landau is a master and one of my favorite players! Nobody knows who he is...he's amazing!!

Kirk,

I probably need a few more listens to Mike's CD by the sound of it! Am slowly getting used to it... just not the sort of stuff I would normally listen to.

Otherwise, one of my favourite players too - first heard his stuff with Tom Scott c 1989.

Interestingly, one of my favourite radio shows here did a 'Live at the Baked Potato' special on the weekend. Didn't play Mike's CD, but he did get featured with another artist (not sure who) and his playing was fantastic. He must have been stripping paint off the walls as from what I know it's not a huge venue and his sound was just enormous.

I'm also still kicking myself that I missed him when he toured last year with James Taylor. I had a gig on that night and my brother and his wife were sitting right in front of Mike. Neutral
