Sorry! Was late and that was the best I could do - definately a wow/blissed out smiley face though.
Was a great gig last night. The band was in good touch and the atmosphere good too. A fair chunk of the audience sang along with Start It Up which was kinda cool and made up for the people up the back of the room that talked through all the quiet bits (in It Don't Make Sense etc). WHY would you pay A$50+ to see a great gig and then talk all the way through it? Only a few idiots taking photos too.
The band is one seriously good unit. Sound great, very tight and musically interact well together. Although they seem (at first glance) to be in their own world when playing, Dewayne and Hillary work very well together and the interplay is great. With Bob in the band, Robben's tending to share solo duties with him, so there didn't tend to be the extended solos as on previous tours. It's all good either way though!
Songlist (in no particular order): Nothin to Nobody, Lovin Cup, Help The Poor, Cannonball Shuffle, Start It Up, Chevrolet (encore), Badge, Keep On Running, It Don't Make Sense, Bonnie, and 2 or 3 others that I can't remember at this point.
Guitars: the Tele and his new Les Paul. The LP is a very nice flame maple job with light tobacco burst finish (?). One seriously FAT sounding guitar.
Fashion: wasn't close enough to check out the shoes (sorry Elizabeth!). Probably not a bad thing as this would have put me directly in the path of the Dumble which was working pretty hard.
Weather: warm/hot. Up to about 90 degrees (fahrenheit) during the day and only down to about 75 last night - very weird for this time of year as winter starts in about 6 weeks! Bad for people in the country as was worse fire weather yesterday than what we've had all summer.
So there you go! That's my fix for the time being.
Daved - many thanks to you, Robben and the rest of the band and crew for putting on a great gig last night.

Chris,
Apparently you enjoyed last night's show. It was a good one. Wasn't "Help The Poor" a powerhouse highpoint of the show, or what!? Whew! Great way to close out our visit to Australia.
The band had a great time both onstage and off thruout the tour. (Even tho poor Dewayne now seems to be trying to fight off the flu thing that all the rest of us have gone thru.) Hil loved her first trip here, just as I told her she would and we are all looking forward to returning as soon as you all will have us back.
I must apologize to those fans to whom I refused setlists and picks last night. I was just fed up by the people nosing thru my workbox ("I just wanted a pick....") and whoever lifted the lyric sheet for "Bonnie" that I had out there for Robben (And I had thought I had taped it down pretty good... guess I was wrong), those people just kinda ruined it for the rest of you.
You know, as I think about it, I always get "Guilt trippy" later about things like that. I understand why fans do those kind of things, and actually it's an indirect compliment to the artist, but still, it's wrong to help themselves, especially when I usually try to be as generous as I can about giving out momentos when ASKED. So, my sincere apologies to those of you who DID ask... I really do appreciate it. Try to catch me next time thru, OK?
Besides all that, we had a wonderful time down under and hope to be back very soon. _________________ B C-ing U!

Daved,
many thanks - yep - was a good gig last night. Loved Help The Poor too (huge!) - interesting to hear it's evolution from the original recording, and Dewayne and Hillary really pulled out everything for that song.
Dissapointing to here about the momentos though. At the end of the day it's just plain wrong. Was generally a very appreciative audience last night so a bit disappointing that several people managed to sour your experience of it.
Didn't get a chance to hang around for a meet & greet with you and Robben yesterday, but will definately aim to do so next time. Happy to have you back anytime you want! (but I guess that's in the hands of the promoters). This tour seems to have been better organised and promoted locally than the last 2 tours have been so hopefully that's built a bit of momentum for future visits.
Cheers - Chris _________________ because I rock, and that's important.
