I got FG new one yesterday at lunch, it was at my local "Tower" so they got it out on time. I like it a lot, and I can see this entertaining me for hours into years. Smooth Jazz it is not, nor is it New age, to me.
I think it is BIG Fusion Jazz, I have listened to it 3 times full, and a bunch of bits at work. I cant make it too loud at work. There is so much to listen too, lots of different parts in each song. When I read that he recorded most of it in weeks I thought it might sound thrown together, Not at all it sounds well planed out.
It sounds to me like a naturally sweetened ( Ripe ) work of art. This disk I know I will saver for many years. Very rich in different sounds, rhythmic feels, harmony and subtle melody. Great playing by all involved.
I also got that other guitar players disk that was released on the same day. I like that one too, Big progressive Rock.
Frank Gambale's new disk is different then any other I have heard from him. I think it may be my favorite from him.
I hate looking forward to a new release only to be disappointed. And we all know that happens a lot with all the sugary crap out there. FG delivers a fresh great new disk, I like the other guy's too. It is like having a double disk one satisfies my need to explore and decipher, and the other is to bang my head.
Thanks, Take Care

Thanks for asking, Ric Fierabracci is on half, the other half is Steve Billman. Billy Cobham on drums, very entertaining disk.
Daved I so appreciate reading your first hand comments on RF, I am a big fan of Robben's...
My dream right now is that they record a Jing Chi show with Mike Landau. I am a big fan of Landau too. CD or preferably DVD, This is my dream...
Thanks

I really don't know if there will be any recordings done while we're in Japan. Jimmy is pretty much the Jing Chi director/leader of the group when it comes to the business end of things. I guess it's up to him and whatever he has in mind while we're there. _________________ B C-ing U!

My dream involves a tall, curvaceous lady and a bottle of Cristal, but I would enjoy hearing a Jing Chi release featuring Mike Landau. |

Hey! Jimmy H. responded, they will be recording a live CD.
Cant wait for that one, and the New studio disk too.

Well, there you have it.
Robben and I arrived here in Tokyo last night and are enjoying a pleasant day off today. The rest of the gang should be arriving here this evening and we will put together the first show tomorrow. _________________ B C-ing U!

Thanks for the update Daved, If you get a chance please let us know how it is. Is Landau playing with them the whole show or just a tune or two?
Take Care
