Elizabeth's post may not be politically correct -perhaps, I don't know - but it is perfectly "humanly" correct (dubitare humanum est!)

iRiMiKi: Spaceba for the support and your sage words.
telefunk: Bless the pointy headed academics (everyone KNOWS that the largest sexual organ in your body is YOUR BRAIN.) I am, indeed, passionate about human rights, but my intent was never to attack or confront anyone, and I meant no offense to anyone. I hope that is self-evident.
As an educator, I feel that knowledge is power, and learning/investigation can never harm anyone. Often, dissention only serves to cement one's beliefs, and I am with iRiMiKi in that one who never experiences self doubt and personal questioning has ceased to evolve.
Captain: Robben was phenomenal. He looked great and was in top form musically. It looked like he was having a great time, too!
midc74: Uhhhhh, I didn't mean to stir up a hornet's nest, but I will own it now that I have done so!
Aeolian: You are always my champion, and I feel lousy for not being there to support you at JJ's. I owe you BIG TIME.
Lobsterman: I think you know how I have always felt about you.
To everyone: Thanks for your ever-present support. Your PMs and e-mails mean so very much to me. And please, please, please, always feel free to disagree with me. I believe in communication, and have never meant anything I write to be a personal attack (okay, maybe on Bush, but not anyone on this board, regardless of your politics...that is what makes freedom free.)
But I will pose this querie: What is so funny about peace, love, and understanding? Would it be that bad to stop war, stop the killing, and try to establish Community Earth? I don't care who is wrong, or who is right, I just want to feel like a part of this wheel; connected, supported, and validated. I offer no less in return. I promise to try to leave this place better than I found it, live mindfully, and practice random acts of kindness. I understand that when members of an animal species attack each other, sociologists refer to that as "aberrant behavior."

Elizabeth , thanks for having cool down the stove.
And for you all Robben fans : Don't forget to cry while playing the blues, it's so romantic, you almost can feel the pain of this planet minus the fact to be really in trouble.

A few years ago I went up to the Russian River festival to see my buddy playing with Musclewhite. It was cold and gray and we sat on the rocks that they called a beach and froze our tails off. Lydia Pense, Randy Jacobs and Leo Nocentelli all played great and couldn't get a peep out of the audience. Glad to hear that this years show went so much better. Amazing what a little sunshine (and Robben) can bring to a show.
And Liz, your are forgiven, but now you'll have to come to the Mojo Lounge and sing Misunderstood yourself _________________ There are no such things as wrong notes, there's only the look on your face.

I first want to apologize if I get this posting thing wrong. This is my very first Message Board AND my very first post. I hope everyone will bear with me. I've only recently "discovered" Robben and his music. Wow, have I been missing out? The only thing I can say is "thank goodness it finally happened". He's amazing. You should all be quite grateful that you've been enjoying his music for so much longer than I have.
Now I'd like to comment on the ACLU. I think they are an embarrassment to America. It seems like the only one who has rights, is the Left. That just doesn't make sense. And by what logic do we even CONSIDER giving illegal aliens any rights, let alone access to our schools, medical facilities, etc.? They are ILLEGAL. They get caught, they get thrown in jail. They are breaking our laws! Oh yeah, and did you see Mel Gibson's movie? Now that makes you appreciate God. Look what He did for us. It's true, we just don't recognize greatness until it's gone.
Gosh, I see your point about music and politics. I think this post would make a catchy little tune. Are you tappin' your feet as you're reading it?
I doubt it.
Maybe just appreciating Robben and his fine works would be a good idea. It's really too bad when people make comments that just "don't belong". And yeah, we know what we're doing.
Love ya all. Looking forward to enjoying both this board and Robben for years to come.

Elizabeth, glad you went to Russian River, and thanks for the great festival review. Etta James played the blues festival here last year, and put on an excellent show. Loved the photo of Robben in the green shirt. Did you notice it matches your little jumping frog?
As for the movie, haven't seen it, and not sure if I will. And although this is probably not the place for political debate, it's great to see this kind of discussion going on - lots of different viewpoints here. But if you think you've stirred up a hornet's nest, check out some of the "violent agreement" in the theory corner about whether 'tis better to practice theory or play from the heart. A lot of passionate people here!

It seems like several folks disagree with my point of view. That's fine.
I'm a musican, I lean left, grew up in the tail end of the 60's. I wish nothing more than a world of Peace, Love and Understanding.
But if you think the crazy Muslims who despise the US are going to lay down their arms in search of Peace, Love and Understanding, you're surley mistaken. I witnessed the horror, it will happen again. We have to stop them now, by what ever means possible - all is fair in war.
Bush-bashing, political correctness, and the ACLU expose a crack in this county's solidarity, a crack in which the enemy can sneak in and attack. And it might be the Golden Gate Bridge next!

Please let's keep the the Robben area on topic - that is about Robben and his music!
If you want to talk about movies, politics, or whatever. The place to do that is in the open discussion area.
I really don't want to get into censoring posts or topics that members want to discuss. However, gross generalizations intended to offend and personal attacks will not be tolorated. Please do not post them on this board - they will be removed!

1. Re politics: Kind of like inviting folks to come over to your place for more action after the party you're at starts to die down: Come on over to the "Politics and Concert Reviews" thread at the "Open Discussion" cafe ... er ... forum. PierreL has already checked in with a post, and it'll be fun to carry on this non-Robbenish discussion over there, where we won't "bother the neighbors."
2. Re Robben (which is, after all, what this forum is about): I'm almost envious of you folks who have been hearing Robben live for the first time. Oh to relive the heady experience of first hearing the world's consumate musician. And while it's hard to top Elizabeth for details, perspective, and overall feel of "being there," no matter what your own opinion of your writing and reviewing skills, keep those reviews coming! Anyone who's a member here who goes to a Robben Ford show and doesn't promptly post a review for those of us stuck at home ought to be taken out and ... forced to listen to a Partridge Family CD. _________________ - BlueRunner
