Hi
I hope you realise the agony I went through having to watch this again just to find the name of the keyboard player
Sax - Bob Malach (where does he get all those stripped shirts ?)
Bass - Gary Willis
Drums - Tom Brechtlein
Keys - Tom McMorran
Tracks
Talk To Your Daughter
Help The Poor
Getaway
Revelation
Born Under A Bad Sign
Ain't Got Nothin' But The Blues
Wild About You
Albert's Association
then backing Steve Miller (Ohne Filter Extra)
Ya Ya
Just A Little Bit
God Bless The Child
Little Red Top
Gangster Of Love
The picture quality is pretty poor (I was forced to watch it on my computer and reduce the picture size) but the sound quality is excellent !!
The thing that comes across most for me, the benefits of a five-piece band !
Come On Robben, we are all willing to pay that little bit extra for our tickets !! (or are we ??)
Cheers

Hello everybody,
I want to set things straight here, because I didn't know about the way people are thinking about "taping". My intention is to talk about taping in a positive way. That means that I''m learning more about improvising, melodic control and phrasing. I'm playing the guitar for almost 25 years now at the age of 29. So I think that the people who are "guitarminded" like me are talking about taping in a progressive prespective and not in let's say GREEDY prospective. Maybe there are a lot of "bluesfanatics" who just likes all the 'Robben Ford" stuff because they are trying to get as many possible in a way teenage girls are obsessed by Justin Timberlake or like collecting baseball-cards. But that's not what being a RF-fan is about. It's about understanding his music and why does does he play that chord? melody? scale? lick and note? where does it come from and analyse and find out on the instrument yourself.
I have never trade, sell etc. RF tapes. It's all for my own ears. I'm a fan when I was a teenager.
When my dad was my age now and had the "Inside Story " record or when he played with the Yellowjackets or with David Sanborn and Marcus Miller on the "Casino Lights "record. So long before RF and the Blue Line period I was already diggin him.
So maybe I'm new here but I 'm not just a fan , but a GENUINE fan !
That´s all I got to say .
C ya´ll Later

lionwool,
I'm sure a lot of us here feel the same way as you do about it. You sound like me in that I can't get enough of his music.
Welcome to the board! |

Does Robben play on the Steve Miller cuts? RF and Miller cutting loose on Gangster has potential... |

Well, I know it will never happen but I too would like to own a DVD of the Robben Ford Tiger Walk tour show.
If there was a way I could get it (legally or some way approved by all concerned) I would surely do it.
Tiger Walk is probably my all time favorite R.F. recording (I have most), or at least in the top two.
Just had to get that out

The "Ohne Filter" shows were produced at SWF in Germany.
Michael Au, the original producer of OF, gave me a copy
of Robben's dvd a while back. I'll ask him about the Tiger Walk
show when I see him again...

he gave me a copy of the '93 Ohne Filter show...
and they are preparing an ongoing series of releases
by different artists who appeared on the show...
a bunch is already out...
I will ask him if there are any plans to release the
Tiger Walk show... they might not have complete
control over the rights. |

He also played with Larry Carlton and Stanley Clarke ( Live at the Greek ), and he was sideman for Alanis Morissette at some point. I saw him first on TV with Miles , he was playing his ass off.
And then Gary Novak on drums, Chick Corea alumni ( among others ).
An incredible show this is indeed...a DVD version would really be welcome. |
I saw this band. They sure smoked! I think the whole band ended up in Alanis Morissette's band. I know I've seen Novak and Chaney with her. Maybe Johnson too. Chaney is playing with Jane's Addiction at the moment. |
